I could see us getting a draw, maybe nicking a win if he gets the team right, if he picks Aluko then I'm preparing for a loss.

None of McCleary, Rinomhota, Harriott or Loader in the U23s tonight

Snowflake Royal Last time Clement said he got the team selection wrong, he clearly meant a different element of it to the rest of us, because he then continued to field one or two of the worst offenders in the next game iirc. So I'm not hopeful we won't be seeing Aluko in the XI.

And yet you’d happily have him as manager after he’s taken us down to Division 1?

Perfect opportunity to play Novakovich

:? Oh I forgot, our recruitment and handling of contracts is pantomime

This will hopefully be the start of a renaissance.

Convince me
1. We'll recruit someone better with experience to replace him
2. A new manager will change our squad
3. A new manager will change our scouting, medical and transfer performance

And I'll jump on board.

When we were rubbish after Clarke spoke to Fulham people said anyone would do better. They didn't.
When we were rubbish under McDermott people said anyone would do better, it lasted one season tenuously.
When we were rubbish under Stam people said anyone would do better. They didn't.
Now we're rubbish under Clement the same people are saying anyone would do better.

See a pattern here? Sacking a manager and hiring a new one us expensive. Uf it's not going to make a difference anyway, why bother. The one thing we haven't done in five years is give a manager two full seasons to see if the longer game works. We don't give anyone time to build anything or learn from their mistakes and implement changes.

Maybe Clement can't save us and get us to the right end of the Championship, but that doesn't mean he can't do better at a level below, where even our mediocre trash will be decent.

Teams :

WBA: Johnstone, Gibbs, Bartley, Livermore, Mears, Barnes, Gayle, Barry (c), Rodriguez, Dawson, Hegazi.
Subs: Myhill, Robson-Kanu, Brunt, Townsend, Edwards, Hoolahan, Adarabioyo.

Reading: Walker, Gunter, Blackett, Yiadom, Moore (c), Ilori, Ezatolahi, Bacuna, Swift, Meite, McNulty.
Subs: Mannone, Aluko, Barrow, Sims, Rinomhota, Kelly, Holmes.

3 at the back presumably.

McNulty actually starts

No start for Aluko... or Sims or Barrow - so no width.

Hardly surprising when you think how easily QPR walked through the middle of us. Only hope we can create enough chances to upset WBA.

Hard to see how that side lines up.

Could see Yiadom pushed up as a winger... maybe?

.................Walker
..Gunter, Ilori, Moore, Blackett
..................Ezatolahi
.Meite, Bacuna, Swift, Yiadom
......................McNulty

Or as you say, wing backs with a three?

....................Walker
..............Ilori, Moore, Blackett
Gunter,........ Ezatolahi, ...........Yiadom
...................Bacuna, Swift
..................McNulty, Meite

Once again, it's not a good sign when the fans can't be certain how you are going to shape up.

Think it looks a nailed on 5-3-2 with Swift supporting the front two when attacking and McNulty dropping in when defending. Interesting to see Tom Holmes on the bench but no centre forward option (shame for Loader). Though I think Barrow as part of a front two is a decent option so he doesn’t need to defend so much

Yiadom is also a winger.

No Aluko or Kelly is a good thing. No sign of Loader in the squad is disappointing. Neither GMac or Harriott in the squad either.
Neither of our strikers have scored at this level.

Too much inexperienced managerial appointments for a club that was going through a painful on and off the pitch. Hence our issues.

As with Stam I’m conflicted on Clement. I have no faith in him but I want to, if that makes sense and I want him to succeed because we can’t keep having changes.

Problem is we’re just not getting better and relegation is a distinct possibility.

Errr...

Why does Bacuna alternate good with atrocious performances? He looked dire in midweek, but was good against Brentford and has just scored.

He is the most enigmatic player in the squad.
Great start though....

Great shot from Eza from distance, parried and a brilliant finish by Bacuna from a short corner. Lovely job

I'd bet there is some correlation between Bacuna's shit games and who else has been selected for the match? Strap?
