Whether or not people believe that The Fat Controller is responsible for the dire mess that the team is in, it's very clearly evident that things are not right with the commercial side of the club.

Look around the stadium and you can see how much advertising space hasn't been taken up. Prime pitch perimeter advertising real estate is taken up with non revenue earning slogans such as 'The future's bright, it's blue and white' Perhaps more appropriate would be 'The team that's shyte's in blue and white'

Inside the gents in the East Stand, all of the advertising boards are empty and the club haven't even bothered to put any club related marketing in there for several games.

Of course businesses won't be willing to pay through the nose for advertising when the team is doing so poorly but they still get the opportunity to put their product/service in front of more than 10,000 people and even more for Sky/red button matches. So why hasn't that space been sold, albeit for a lower fee?

I understand that the relationships with long standing local businesses who've been taking corporate packages aren't being properly managed at the moment.

That may be down to the implosion of the commercial dept...

But a lot of easy wins are being neglected..

There are different ways to re-structure a business, and not everyone will want to stay in a new organisation. The current approach appears to be deliberately toxic.

However, the culture driven down from the top does impact everyone and, whilst the CEO isn't on the pitch, the attitude and (lack of ) mental strength does reflect it IMHO.

That’s a pretty extra-ordinary attack from Watts. Unlike him to be so outspoken. Our owners have placed a lot of faith in Gourlay. Perhaps they are naive. They certainly cannot be happy with what’s going on. Our average gates are lower now than they have been for over 15 years.

That's not the first tweet about Gourlay he's made either.

Following on from another post about the personnel, I think we need a change in our medical staff too. The injuries we keep getting have persisted for a fair few years now since Adkins was manager. Under Coppell and Brian we never had this many injuries nor under Pardew.

Watts's contacts at the club now are likely to be individuals Gorley has moved on for non performance over a number of years, I've no problem with that as the whole thing needs a shake up; if difficult decisions have had to be made, so be it.

If there was even the slightest bit of improvement either on or off the pitch, then you may have a point.

The fact we are cruising towards a disaster both on and off the pitch suggests your hypothesis is probably incorrect.

I wonder what Howe and Madejski think of all of this? They cannot be happy or comfortable with what is going on.

Watts really putting the boot in there

Tbf, its obviously numerous opinions coming out of the club. Pretty clear what BT who worked closely with him, thinks of him. No doubt about that at all. Assuming thats where most of Watts info comes from, possibly with a few bits from some of the players as well

Is there really any doubt about the detrimental effect this guy has had behind the scenes? Asides form the reports that are coming out now, he speaks like someone who has a big ego and can do no wrong / nothing is his fault when interviewed. Departures of key members of staff, weird decisions on contracts and transfers, the absolute failure of the players and coaching / management under his tenure.

Got to feel bad for the owners, who clearly have put their faith in this jobsworth and have pumped lots of (now wasted) money into the club.

Things look like they are moving behind the scenes - you'll notice on the appointment of the new DOF, Meite contract etc he wasn't present in the photos where previously he would have been. Owners must be wising up to it all.

I don't disagree but lets be realistic here, Ron has his feet well and truly under the table and the owners probably lap up whatever he tells them. They have put their trust in the wrong person and he is screwing them and us at the same time.

When Gourlay even elicits a well-judged rant from Courtney Friday, you know things are bad

We have to use our fan power now to show our opinions, admittedly we don't have the best fan base but we are still the most important thing about the club, when well respected people like Watts, Mcanuff, and Ady Williams all expressing the same concerned opinion, there has to be something going wrong.

Zip I wonder what Howe and Madejski think of all of this? They cannot be happy or comfortable with what is going on.

Madejski cares about his legacy, However he may also be glad that he's not in the firing line himself this time around.
Howe probably isn't bothered so much but he may also be quite happy - It's not a bad thing to be able to say you left a job and everything fell apart as it shows how much better you were than your successor and that you were doing things right and you were right to leave.

On a somewhat related note I saw pictures of Bearwood the other day, it appears to be coming along nicely. ground being flattened for the pitches and buildings being erected, so everything is not all bad.

What are the views of STAR? - Do the board have the desire to make their views heard in an official statement or are they too close to the club and don't want to rock their relationship?

Do STAR members actually feed back to the club their views? If not, do it - Let them be your voice.

good news to come out of it, is it seems no one has a bad word to say about the owners themselves so far. Hopefully they'll be around a lot longer than Gourlay will be
