BFTG Boro Home

Predictable loss.

I was surprised how negative Boro were, their 10-0-1 formation indicated they thought they'd nick a goal, as indeed they did. If they'd of been more attacking they'd of won comfortably.

We had a couple of chances but were always going to lose this game despite dominating possession,

People only look at the score, pretty understandable. But that was right up there with our better performances this season. usual shit referee. didn`t get the bounce of the ball really.
Stand out showing by Rhino. Baldock can`t lead the line on his own. Osho looked good as did Blackett. the goal was always going to come from Richards side, thought we rushed him back in to quickly.

Shame, I thought we were good value for the first 50-60 min. Crying out for obvious changes that ever came.

Good to see young, hungry players and we looked solid at the back and attacked with purpose.

onto the Gomes fukkfest......

Thought we were appalling in the 1st half. In the 2nd half up until they scored we looked ok, then conceded and went back to looking terrible again.

Barrow was the problem, not Richards. His positioning before the attack which led to the goal was dire. He stood on the touch line, 50 yards from the nearest player and meant he struggled to get back to provide decent support to Richards.

I’m now done with Barrow. He had McNair on toast yet didn’t deliver one decent cross and we may as well defend with 9 outfield players. He doesn’t even get in the box when we attack down our right hand side. Please, please, please can we ship him out in January. We’ve been shit ever since he signed.

Worst ref of the season by a long way, and that's really saying something.

At least he wasn't the worst Ref at the Madejski in the last week. Anyone who went to the Under 23's match against Man United will know what I'm talking about.

But much to be blaming Barrow for our shitness. Thought he did ok. Sims was far worse.

We never looked like winning with the starting line up. All well and good praising a bunch of U23s for trying hard, but it won’t win games

Rino is class though - like him a lot

Marshall messed it right up imo. Bod, Swift and McCleary should have started without a doubt. Don’t know what he was aiming for with that front 4. Didn’t work at all. More than happy to Move on to a new coaching set up, this one has failed miserably

Hmmm. I actually thought we were mugged. Sloppy Sunday league defending for the goal.... both defenders Barrow (?!) and Richards going to close down the wide man but too far off him to stop a simple channel ball for a ball rolled across the box to finish.

Osho looked very solid and was bossing Blackett for first 25 mins. Good from Rhino. Give Bacuna POTS already.

Crying out for Swift and Bod for Sims and Loader at half time.

And yes, Barrow promises so much and delivers so little.

Don't know how we lost that, let alone not take all three points.

Enjoyable performance despite the loss. The academy lads are testament to the poor recruitment policy in recent years. At least the team as a whole today played with a real spirit and tenacity. Full of character. Blackett has looked a different player in recent weeks. Lacked a target man upfront i.e. Meite.

Nothing though to suggest relegation isn't a real possibility now. Lack of experience and quality in the squad aren't gong to be resolved in the next 12 weeks. .

Blackett does seem to have done well back in the centre, which makes a bit of a mockery of how bad he was there under Stam. Perhaps the influence of not relying on our centrebacks to be playmakers who are only allowed to make 20 yard passes and are constantly under pressure.

I wonder if we'd be better off if he'd been partnered with Moore over Ilori, O'Shea or McShane earlier in the season.

Simply not good enough. After the initial 6 minutes. Boro pressed higher and we struggled. Against more clinical sides the game would have over much early.

Our left hand side is a real problem and has been all season. I’d have put Baldock our left and Bod through the middle after an hour. Barrow is an impact sub and the kind of player we should have been bringing on today when chasing a game. Not a 90 minute player.

A brave but flawed selection. It was obvious Baldock alone up top was going to be totally ineffective. The youngsters all did well. If Bodvarsson is not fit why was he on the bench?

Jaakkola. 6 ok but his distribution is frustrating
Richards 6 Was targeted in the first half but more comfortable in the second period.
Blackett. 6 Did ok but positioning poor at times
Osho. 7 MoTM Impressive debut. Composed and positive. One iffy moment early one. One great run forward
Yiadom. 6. Usual mix of mostly good but with the occasional hospital pass
Bacuna. 6. Great first half. Terrible second half
Rinomhota 7. Worked tirelessly and showed surprising pace
Loader. 6. Involved in our better moments and unlucky to be subbed
Sims. 5. One good ball through to Baldock but not much else
Barrow 5 The occasional good run but final ball was poor
Baldock. 4. Pointless playing him as a lone striker. Totally ineffective and missed a good chance

Swift. 6. Did ok when he came on
Bodvarsson. Not on long enough
GMac. Not on long enough

Did the referee realise there is something called playing the advantage. Not sure whether the hand balls appeals were decent shouts.
We are very lucky to still be outside the relegation zone with a pitiful 19 points at the halfway stage. We must avoid defeat on Boxing Day.

At least we had a left footed player playing left back. Made the back line far more balanced. With Gunter out. No other obvious choice for the position.

Not a 100% nor match fit. Little point in rushing players back. Lot of fixtures come close together.

Barrow was so wide / out of position most of the time he was almost in the car park.
