Starting XI ?

by Nameless » 25 Jan 2019 14:07

So how are we going to line up in our next few games ?

Assuming the loanees are here to play

Remembering we have 6 loanees and can only use 5

Assuming everyone is fit !

Avoiding playing players out of position just to get them on the pitch....

Why the assumption that Miazga ‘has’ to play ?

That is the case with a lot of loan deals, mainly involving young Premier League players. The loan agreement will state that the player has to play for the loan club. Can result in additional financial payments having to be made to the parent club.

I am including Baker on the assumption he has something in the loan deal stating he has to play if fit. I think he and Swift are largely the same player though so completely interchangeable. Meite I stuck in just because of his physical presence and he would be decent when defending corners or set pieces.

Is this our XI or what we think Gomes will pick :?:

Meite would be good to bring in, but think he is a couple of weeks from being fully fit. That inside left forward position may work for him though

Mine is the team I think he'll pick. Bod may get another run if Oliveira isn't 100%

I’d be surprised if these ‘must play’ clauses actually exist. Real issues if they did.
I suspect OMA is confused by the way deals are sometimes set up so that loan fees are waived when a player plays but become payable if a player is fit but not selected.

They do exist. Why do you think so many player have gone back to their parent clubs this January? Clauses go in the loan deals now, have done for a while. We would either have to play them in X amount of games, play them in X amount of games or face financial penalties or they'll be a recall clause.

One of the 6 being Eza, any news on him? Its getting to the point where if he doesn't return soon, then the loan will be canceled(?) After Bolton, there are only 17 games left. He's been out a long time with a bad injury, and would likely take him almost a month to get back to peak fitness. And with the cold weather/worsening pitches, they would likely work him back in slowly anyway. Just not sure how many games I envisage him being involved in from here on.

(Btw, surprised he didn't get a shout for sexiest player? He's quite the lad, dates famous models and actresses, writes and sings rap songs, etc)

I think JG may start with:

Martinez

Yiadom
Moore
Miazga
Blackett

Rinomhota
Bacuna

Barrow
Aluko
Eljaria (if fit)

Bod

And have Oliveira, Swift and Baker on bench
(+others)

It's true, I remember possibly Harry Redknapp saying he had to use someone because of such a clause.

I do wonder if so many changes will have an adverse effect. We weren't that far off before. I know we needed a CB but we don't want to shake things up too dramatically.

Being Redknapp I suspect he was referring to some ‘personal’ arrangement rather than anything between two clubs !

think this may account for the rinomota move to RB tbf.
that was the only area where gomes was less than forthright when challenged by dellor

Why not post both?

This could become a prediction league in it's own right, 1 point for each of the starting XI you predict.
