Sutekh Rumblings that this is now a done deal and Ilori will go to Sporting Lisbon but not until Reading have a replacement.

Therefore presume Reading will be looking for a pacey ball playing centre half from somewhere.

Ah so thats why he played like he couldn't give one single oxf*rd on Saturday.

He was playing like it was a knock about in the park against the year below.

Well it helps to be able to fit in with the rest of the defence sometimes.

And hopefully one that isn't a complete lackadaisical liability.

tbf I have never seen anything as bad as that first 20 minutes at Derby from him. You're right to point out he is massivley casual/borderline lazy though. His heart isn't in it and he isn't the sort of bloke you'd take into the trenches with you.

tbf, he made one fcuk up in that time. And that was not marking properly. Other than that he didn't do anything wrong

you could see what was going to happen from the half way line. he just wandered away from his man and let him score, and then compounded that error( that completely ruined our game after 2 minutes) by letting his head go down and wandering around the pitch like someone who didn't give a flying fook, leaving gaps all over the last third and failing to get to or challenge any attacker for the ball

First bit is true, the stuff after isn't. They didn't have another attack of worth until their next goal, and I'm sure Ilori played a part in that

However he did then give away a crap free kick for their 3rd goal, so not excusing the overall performance

Smithy sporting Lisbon

That's like saying Arsenal London. The club is Sporting Clube de Portugal, and it's actually Benfica that has Sport Lisboa in the name (S.L. Benfica).

Here in Portugal, Sportinguistas I've spoken to seem to have had high hopes for Ilori when he was younger, and appear excited to be bringing him back as far as I can tell.

I would say the FA Cup last year at Sheffield Wednesday. Though most of the team were abject on the night. Defending was shockingly bad.

Sporting fans are not happy with the possibility of Ilori coming back. Seems they have long memories that Tiago might not have banked on...

Out of interest what are the Sporting fans unhappy about ?
Ilori played a handful,of games for them, left a long time ago and was very young when he left.
He must have done something pretty terrible for there to be riots on the streets against his return all these years later !

Well they attacked their own players on the training ground after last season, so I wouldn't count on them being the most reasonable bunch. That said, fans I've spoken to are pretty happy with it, just because he's one of theirs.

Not too fussed as long as we got a decent fee for him. Had a couple of phenomenal games for us (Fulham playoff semi, for example) but was often a liability.

+1, I'd be happy with a couple of mil for him tbh. At times he looked like a proper player, just a shame he lacked the consistency.

Think he will succeed in a slower paced league.
