Wtf they are only buying 60% of him  http://sportwitness.co.uk/reading-selli ... ught-2020/ ‘Ilori is set to sign a four-and-a-half-year deal with Sporting, who paid €2.4m for 60% of his rights, Record says.

Now the contract includes a clause which allows the Lions to get the other 40% as long as they pay €1.6m more in 2020.’

so we will own 40% of him if they don't stump up the cash next year? don't they have joint ownership of players in Italy. So if a clubs want to buy illori off sporting in the future they will have to negotiate with both sporting and us?

Is there any precedent of this happening in the English leagues before?

In the minority but feel McShane is ok as backup. Blackburn was bad but I'm over it. He had a bad game, it happens. Someone said Ilori has cost us way more goals, and it's true. It's not even close. Got McShane on a free, and given his contribution, I've nothing much to complain about. Compare to what Ilori cost, and what we'll lose. Again, McShane strictly a backup now, but doubt he'd be that much worse than Ilori, or even Moore.

Crumbs, how does that work? Does it just mean we get a 40% cut if he gets sold on between now and 2023?

Well. It's not how it works on football manager at least.

Weirdly worded - would think it more likely that we have a 40% sell on but Sporting can buy that out by 2020 for a set fee.

Stranded If we decide to sell Blackett, we may well try and do a last minute deal with the funds.

What, buy a permanent long-term 'core' player and shut a few people up? Sounds enticing.

J-Lo reports Ilori close to finalising switch.

Is it just me or has Low been bang on it in the last couple of days?

He's only reporting facts which is helping him no end. In the manager search he came out of it as the only local journ not blatently making things up. He's never going to a be a roving reporter or anything but I much prefer his approach to Anthony "WiFi" Smith and Courtney Thursday.

Well yeah, but he's managed to get those facts before the other two.

Why don't we have a dedicated Reading media thread? OMA would love that.

Shame, there was a good player in there somewhere and i really do believe he would be better suited to the Defensive Midfielder role as he is good with the ball, super quick and intelligent, and there is less chance of trouble when he plays that casual ball every now and then.
Ah well, he's gone now so we move on, watch him become a top class defender in 5 years and get sold for 15 mil lol.

My thoughts exactly

Mind you the mental scars inflicted in the first 25 minutes at Derby
will be with me for quite a while

Shame as he had all the talent in the world. Could be an exceptional player but just not consistent enough or able to cut out the silly mistakes

Still good deal for all I feel, best of luck to him
