Hendo Old Man Andrews Actually enforce the rule about the goalkeeper having to release the ball from their hands within 6 seconds. Enforce it from minute 1 to 90. Apply the same rule to ground goal kicks. As soon as the keeper places the ball down they have 6 seconds to distribute it.
I don't think that is a law anymore, however I am happy to be proved wrong.
I has gone. The laws now just say this about the keeper being in control of the ball
A goalkeeper is considered to be in control of the ball when:
• the ball is between the hands or between the hand and any surface
(e.g. ground, own body) or by touching it with any part of the hands
or arms except if the ball rebounds from the goalkeeper or the goalkeeper
has made a save
• holding the ball in the outstretched open hand
• bouncing it on the ground or throwing it in the air
A goalkeeper cannot be challenged by an opponent when in control of
the ball with the hands.
Good call on the 6 seconds for goal kicks, perhaps also apply the same - or similar - to throw ins, corners and kick offs to help reduce ridiculous over celebration and time wasting.
By the way shouldn't this thread be officially confimred and on the team forum by now?
