Sanguine What sort of imbecilic twat brings up Heysel/Hillsborough/Munich etc out of the blue?

A guy got pushed into a fountain, ffs. Moronic behaviour, but what happened to context?

The context is that more than one person was pushed into a fountain, one being an old man who they then called Mr Miyagi because he was Asian.

Two Hotel workers were assaulted and two others suffered injuries.

Anymore context needed?

And at least 100 pissed up scousers (assumed as wearing Liverpool colours) were all cheering

Normally I'd agree but as they're playing against Bastardlona...

Come on Liverpool.

Not so I I love watching City and wish they had beaten Spurs. Enjoyed Leicester in it. I just can't stomach Chelsea,United and Liverpool and their plastic fans in my face constantly reminding me when their in this moneybags competition.

Just remember, these clubs don't give a toss about other English clubs or our domestic trophies and their history. They just care about money and a 4th place trophy in most cases now it seems.

3-0 now.....I'm loving this.

Beyond Messi's free-kick the real difference was finishing last night. Liverpool really should have a couple themselves, how Salah missed is beyond me. Mane and Milner should have done much better as well.

Liverpool will take heart from the fact they created plenty but 3-0 is just too big a gap. This Liverpool team can hit 2 or 3 goals very quickly but can then stop Barca at the other end as well? Unlikely you would say.

'greed with all of that, we were telling ourselves it was Istanbul part 2 but I'm not sure I really believe it. although unlike Istanbul Liverpool played really rather well in this first half

Liverpool did just fine last night. Barcelona have a player who is undoubtedly the best who has ever played the game and that was the difference.

And none of those things are in any way related to the events of Heysel. As you know. Do try not to be a massive prick.

Yep, agreed. Liverpool did well, just couldn't produce a finish when it was needed. Messi is, still, on another planet.

It's not sour grapes (honest) but is VAR used or not? When Mane was shoved over by Pique early doors it was probably 50/50 in the old days whether a pen would be given but with VAR it's almost a certain pen. Yet it wasn't even reviewed last night as far as I can tell

Equally Mane was lucky that the VAR officials didn't take a dim view of him 'pushing his hand' into a defender's face.

I remain convinced VAR is right for football, but it just doesn't get used properly.

A fair summary.
I thought (as did Rio and the other pundits) that it was a top level game with both sides going toe to toe.
A shame about the final result which could just as easily have been something like 4-2 but you know it is not your night when one team hits the bar and the ball falls nicely to the best player in the world and the other has a shot cleared off the line and the follow-up hits a post.

I presume Firminho wasn't fully fit but he was missed for his link-up play and his calmness around the penalty area.

The one very small glimmer of hope is that PSG scored 4 against them but of course they are likely to get an away goal so a 5-1 result is probably beyond the speculation of even the most ardent of RTG Reds fans.
