WAZZOCK The deal with Macron was signed several months ago, not last month.

Talks began in June. Gourlay was also discussing a stadium sponsorship deal with them but I’ve heard nothing for that coming to fruition. The Macron deal was completed formally last month.

Seeing that they're round the corner and with our owners wait for the 'Huawei Stadium"

Great idea, but surely there won’t be many proceeds from £5? Plus not many people will buy the shirt. If they sell a thousand I’d be surprised.

I know people can pay more if they want to but that’s not altogether likely.

I think you'd be surprised, there will be 4 or 5 takers from my household for example. And reaction on twitter very positive also

How many did they get made up?

Also goes to show the £50 they charge for a shirt is an absolute piss take.

That was always a given.

I've never understood why clubs think it's more profitably to exploit their fans in this way then it is to have three times as many people wearing shirts around Reading . . . .

Yes, it was always obvious but I would have assumed it cost more than £2.50 to make a shirt. Clearly not.

It’s a great idea that - very impressed. Will happily try to get a couple for the kids

Not particularly impressed with the replica kit quality generally though - definitely feel a bit cheap this year. Pleased puma are off tbh

If you tead the article the owners have contributed to the low cost of these shirts I will definitely get one and pay more than the fiver. Although I agree I never understand why they charge so much for the shirts they would sell a lot more for half the price and still make a profit.

It would sell more if they actually used it for a game. As it stands it’s only to be used for a training session.

We are long overdue an all red away kit too!

Definitely. Would liked to have seen them play one away game in the kit around the time of comic relief. All red or all yellow away kits are my favourites.

I think you're going to be very surprised. Very good reaction on social media. I've already been asked to get two to go out to the US! I suspect the website may crash on Friday morning.

I'd be far more surprised if quite a few people aren't left disappointed.

Sheff United away was for Comic Relief. Only we didn't wear that shirt.

Excellent initiative by the club - surprised at how actually cheap they are offering the shirts.

We should have known shouldn't we! (well actually we did, it was only the club's commercial department that didn't)

From the new season ticket/online store announcement:

Both of the new platforms will launch on Thursday 16th May – and then over the coming weeks, the 2019-20 Season Tickets will be released to buy through our new service when they are released on Monday 20th May, as well as our brand new home and away kits for the upcoming campaign.

Nice and early 8)
