Scoring 4 league goals in 2 seasons do though

You looking for a fight mister?

Hopefully you’ll show as much fight as Swift does

Oliveria seems to be working with our fitness coach at the moment, which is interesting*

Apparently made some attempt to sign Abou Diaby’s brother who is a 6ft 2 defensive mid

Dunno how true of course

If he has half the talent Abou Diaby allegedly had then we could have ourselves a real player.

As long as he spends no more than half as much time on the treatment bench.

It’s an interesting one Ian. In many ways I don’t disagree, Swift is probably the easiest to replace with a prem loan - Ejaria, Izzy Brown etc

However I do think he is very much a Gomes player. Wouldn’t be surprised if he is pretty much the first name on the team sheet. As said a while ago his stats are actually pretty good

It depends very much on who is willing to pay what. I’m sure they all have a value on their head that if matched we’ll sell.

Put 2 aggressive mobile tackling midfielders either side and we might get the best out of him.

Yep, only way he plays for me. My fear is he partners Rino and, for example, Loader sits ahead of them.

That's soft.

Fcuk me Ian, we agree.

We should get some sort of memorial bench to remind future generations of this momentous occasion.

I take it back. Swift is brilliant and should play defensive midfield every week.

Rumoured that Hibs can’t afford the £1m Reading are looking for for McNulty and are instead looking to sign Doidge from FGR for around £250k.

This was always going to be the case. I would hope someone like Sunderland might be interested.

barely had the chance to do it (nor anything) for us

Wouldn’t be the end of the world if we are left with him on our books......you never know....to quote a ‘sage’

“Even Kevin Doyle took a while and needed a run in the team to get his scoring boots on”

Well he does like it up norf’ it’d seem. Think he’d be a good league one striker

Looking like Barrow could be off.

I don’t understand Reading fans where Barrow is concerned. His goals and assists over the past two seasons have played a big part in our staying up. He is one of the few players we have with pace. I certainly don’t want to see him go especially for just £1 million. He has to be worth more than that.

Because if you delve deeper into the stats, you’d work out that his performances are in a “2 month period a season”

In his first season he was good between October and December, and then was really poor from January onwards (2 more goals IIRC)

This season, he was awful up until March, I think he had one goal up until March, playing fairly regularly. He then played well between March and May

Point is a high % of his goals/assists come in short periods of time. The other 6/7 months, he doesn’t contribute enough, and if you add his lack of defensive cover, I really don’t think he’s that good

Saying that, in today’s market, you’re correct that he is worth more than 1 million

One of those players I would be happy for us to keep but if an offer comes in, I won't be too disappointed to see go.

Him and Meite looked a deadly partnership in the second half of last season.

Can't say I'd be happy for him to leave, certainly not for £1m.

we should get more than 1m really

Did think though there is a fair chance he is on a bumper contract. 2 years left on the deal - and as rightly pointed out he is pretty hit and miss

2m and 1m a year wages off the books wouldn't be a bad deal for us

+1

If we can't get much for him, would like to see what he does with another season under Gomes, full training camp/preseason, etc.
