According to the Daily Mail, we are after the 250k rated striker Piggott, who scored 18 goals for AFC Wimbledon last season.

Saw him a few times for Maidstone, he is a quality player and would be very happy if this happened

More strikers?

Only if we got rid some of what we have

That's a very good return for a striker in a struggling side.

As for, "more strikers?" We need to reduce the wage bill, and the likes of Bodvarsson and Baldock might well be two that have to go, or, even though it'll hurt, we may have to lose a Meite...

Needs must at the moment, so whoever goes, goes.

Yeah, but they've got to actually go first.

Currently we have six strikers and we play one upfront. Now several may be preferred elsewhere first but that still means:
Bodvarsson
Meite
Baldock
Novakovich
McNulty
Loader

And Oliveira is training with us.

Until we shift at least 2, we don't want to be bringing in anyone new, and when we do it should be Nelson.

That’s the thing - happy enough for us to bring him in if he’s decent but can’t carry another forward unless with bin off some first

I can’t see us buying this guy and Oliveira unless we get rid of three of of our current forwards. If we bought in Pigott and Oliveira and sold McNulty, Bodvarsson and Baldock it would be fine as we would make a profit on transfers (assuming Oliveira ends up as a free).

If we are seriously looking at him rather than general scouting, I can think of two reasons.

Contingency planning for not cutting enough to afford Nelson..

Loader and / or Nova are on their way out as well as McNulty and maybe one more.

Of course, but we wouldn’t be bringing players in and risk bloating the squad if we didn’t know or expect some to move on. McNulty for example is destined to go this summer. We’re just digging our heels in for the best price possible.

Need to shift players I read here, is it really that easy? they would all happily train with the U23s for 15 grand a week. cant tear up contracts.

No it's not that easy. Or we'd have got shot of them (permanently) in January or over the last four weeks.

And hence why we haven't signed anyone yet.

Joe Piggott is not good enough to play for Reading FC in the Championship.

Also can people please stop mentioning/considering/wasting their time with Novakovich.

Surely you can't say that for certain until Jose's had a look at him in pre-season?

If he had better overall loan spells than Meite (who was our top scorer last season) why shouldn’t he be considered?

Because he was playing in a pub league and didn't have a decent record in that.

The point was that Meite had a loan spell at Ligue 2 and Nova played in the Top Dutch league and out scored him in comparison.
We were comparing loan spells were we not? Or does that not fit your hypothesis?

Of course it doesn't. Harry Kane had a loan spell at Leyton Orient in League One and only scored 5 goals.

What is the point you're trying to make?
