On his day a great goal scoring midfielder, now whether his day will come again is another question entirely.

A bit of perspective and balance needed. Here’s what stoke fans think of him after 7 years at their club.

Welcome Charlie, hope you have great season with us

Seriously he might be able to add something. He’s a big lump, solid DCM who is a thug at times. If we do have a combo of Moore, Miazga and Morrison at the back with him in front we are proper tough in the middle

Might give the likes of Swift and Loader the basis to do their thing far more effectively

Also Adam set pieces with MM&MM in the middle should get plenty of goals

As long as he's not on a ridiculous wage then its a solid signing. Always had some decent creative ability, attitude never a problem and been a pretty good pro. He's not a big thug lump, thats nonsense. Adds to the squad and most definitely isn't a prima donna, happy enough with that. I am 2/2 on being happy with our signings.

The way Howe was ralking,, this guy will just be an experienced squad player. They appear confident that the others will leave and he won't be on much money. Someone to come on and turn a game with a set price etc. Strange one but more midfielders will be coming in.

Looks like Mazga is a done deal also. If we were that short, we wouldn't be buying another CB.

Let's wait till the start of the season and then moan but I think we'll be surprised.

Give him a chance. This is what he's capable of

In seriousness though, a lot of Stoke fans are saying he is still an excellent passet and second to none in dead ball situations. Not a signing to set the pulse racing but if he can still pick a pass there is method in the madness.

I didn’t mean it in a bad way. He’s 6ft1, solid and more than capable of sticking the boot in. That’s a big plus for this team

Interesting interview. Very much brought in to help bring the kids through from the sound of it

Jason Roberts was 34 when he signed for us and that didn’t turn out badly. Happy to see how this goes.

I will give any new signing a chance, it's the right thing to do but I have so much pessimism towards this one. Seems like the signing of a club desperate for bodies who know a relegation scrap is ahead of them.

So a main source of goals next year could be Charlie Adam whacking in corners for Meite, Nova, MM*2 and Blackett to be their heads on the end of

Didn’t see that when Gomes was appointed

David Meyler, Stephen Quinn, Dave Edwards and now Charlie Adam. Not a single 30+ year old "has premier league experience" has done well for us. This is the epitome of tried, tested, failed.

He's exactly the sort of midfield goal threat that we've been missing in recent years. But I'm not a fan of these older, expensive-wage signings.
