I think there will be some pissed off fans and more pressure to get something against Cardiff if we lose this one. Gomes has been well backed and our away record under him is atrocious. 1 away win in 14 I believe

One of the away defeats was Man U, his record away in the league is 1-6-6. not great but far from disasterous.

Over a season that is relegation form. That is pretty disastrous to me.

Yeah, this is the kind of shite which should make you consider your life choices.

Last season's record is irrelevant. He kept us up. Fin.

This season is all that matters and we've only played two games. Not interested in any won x games in y that includes last season.

Definitely not. But he will start needing some wins soon as I can't see the Dai's being as patient as we are. Even if we're set up to be tough to beat and try and get clean sheets away and attacking opposition sides more at home.

Hope he can deliver us a couple of wins soon as I like the bloke. We've missed a character like him as manager for years.

The wins will come soon, as the squad gels a bit more. Importantly this season we seem to have gone from "how the oxf*rd did we get that result" to "how tf didn't we get a result".

A last minute goal against Ipswich being the only win.

This. All that matters now is his league record this season. The cups mean nothing and, for me, are just an excuse to play some back up players to see if they can challenge for a starting spot. This game is actually coming at a good time for our new signings. They should get a good work out and Gomes can test them properly. Especially Rafael. His lack of english is a problem as what we clearly need at the back is some organisation/communication.

The only other cup game resulted in a 2-1 FA Cup win for Reading at Loakes Park back in January 1977

Was there - I believe it was the last goals Robin Friday scored for us

Yep - but was December 1976. Remember going on the coaches and something odd happened on the way - but can't remember what.

Cue endless sh1T jokes obvs - anyone recall the real thing?

Remember some of the game. Wycombe were non-league at the time(?) and Loakes Park had a non-league feel about it. We were on about the half way line. The notorious pitch had a gentle slope, but then dropped off a fair bit on one side as it approached the stand, sloping towards us. To the left, behind the goal, there was actually a large hospital. It was like a very tall high-rise tower. Quite a few of the patients on various floors were leaning out of their room windows and looking down at the pitch, watching the game for free.
But yes, won 2-1, and Friday scored both (I think).

I was there.
It was the only game that I'd ever been taken to on a (as then) Reading corporation double decker bus.

I was there as well. Very cold. Don't recall very much, but I do remember the hospital. I was on one of the coaches - was that the game where one broke down and had to wait on the hard shoulder for a replacement?

Freezing cold, fairly comfortable win

The road to the ground goes through an industrial estate (it’s the most ludicrously badly sited ground in the country and how they go at permission to build it I have never understood).
Lots of the units on the estate sell car parking spaces so just head to the ground and park at the first place you come to.
There also used to be a school at the mini roundabout where you turn left to head to the ground that did parking

I'd be more inclined to believe Morrison at right back with Richards LB.

Just looked to see what game Sky are showing tonight and it's Salford v Leeds. Leeds! That's three games out of three. Amazed we get a turn next Sunday.
