Houndgenome Mark Hughes has only ever managed in the Premier League, am I right? And some of you are immediately turning your nose up... fans of a club who have been battling relegation to League One for years?
Some of our fans are hilarious.
it would actually be my main concern with him that he is in effect too good - and doesn't actually know the champ very well

Lower WestWestYorksRoyal Whatever happens, I don't think anyone can deny the job he did last season
Arguably a stroke of luck that all the loanees worked out so well. Really was a last roll of the dice. Could have easily been disasterous.

Stroke of luck that all the loanees worked out so well? Really?? That is pretty much on par with the person who argued that Gomes had nothing to do with the loan signings and pretty much implied that the loanees would have ensured we survived regardless of any input from a coach/manager. It's also at odds with comments from some of the players, like Rinomhota who have praised the contribution that Gomes made (makes) and said how the players feel more comfortable and enjoy the style of football that he encourages (no, not losing, before one of the negative types on here says it!).
I believe he gave the players a lift and got them engaged and wanting to do well for the club in the same way that he got the fans back on side and very supportive in the second half of last season.

Snowflake Royal For all his much lauded great man management, Gomes has managed to treat Baldock, Gunter, McCleary, Mannone and Kelly quite badly.
He's openly criticised Kelly, Loader, Puscas and Joao in the press as well from what I remember.
Plus dropping Richards, Rinomhota and Meite (multiple times) for no good reason.
It's hard to call that good man management and motivation. I can't think of another manager you could list that many players for, including ones who been in post years.

And McNulty.
Being ruthless is accepted, if it works. This season, it's not working.

The Royal Forester I'm fed up with all this chopping and changing. why do we sack a manager every year? Could it be because when a new manager comes in he wants to bring in new players, then it will take time for them to "gel", time runs out, sack manager, start the music again, more new players, stop the music, get rid, another new manager. It goes on and on. Time to keep the music going a bit longer to give players more time to "gel".

John SmithgenomeManeki Neko
What?
I shall no longer be entertaining speculation around Hughes as it won't happen.
I said in a different thread about how Wycombe Wanderers being 2nd in League 1 should mean Ainsworth is given the job as I think he would be able to do it on a budget. I wouldn't be adverse to Hughton either as he's a Championship specialist and given enough money in the summer we could push for promotion next season - as every season is different at this level.

Can you confirm what he has done this season? I’d be interested to know if it was exactly the same as last season.
