There will be lots of empty seats in the ED on Saturday.

Like there isn't normally

Let’s put it this way. There will be even more empty seats than usual.

MIght well be but I'd be surprised. New manager, intriguing appointment, itching to see what the owners saw in him. Will he make a couple of tweaks that will fix us? It should be a huge turnout, but sadly I reckon you might be right.

Few games in and same old results, however, and I suspect there'll be tumbleweed at the M'jesski.

Throughly whelmed. Dont support the hate on twitter despite how funny it is but do think it's a left field appointment that, if it fails, will make us look an absolute basket case of a club.

Question: If Bowen gets us relegated will that make him one of the most hated firuges in our history?

Good. If people can't back a new manager at a game they shouldn't come.

And they won't. The supporters will vote with their feet if this goes tits up. The appointment of Bowen will do wonders for local non-league clubs.

Good for them and us. Non-league gets a boost and we don't have to put up with entitled negative nancys

Nothing can beat Parjudas for me. McGhee I'm over, and I lead enough FOMG chants against him in my time which has been somewhat cathartic, but the way Parj shat on us is something else.

If Bowen does take us down what will he be hated for? Being shit? Putting himself forward for a job? Getting another shit manager sacked? None of those are hateable offences.

In the middle ground, sitting on the fence

The whining on twitter is strangely enjoyable and really does make me want him to do well though. To the point I’d like to see him start Gunter and McCleary just to see a few of them explode in anger

Gunter as captain on Saturday and we may see a riot.

I'll give him the benefit of the doubt, now that i've calmed down. Especially if this genuinely is just a stopgap until the end of the season, before weighing things up. I was secretly hoping (both after PC and after Gomez) that we would approach Slavisa Jokanovic but to be honest, i doubt he'd come here anyway.

Considering our size and current position, I doubt most experienced managers would fancy it: currently bottom 3, squad containing some expensive players, chairman with high expectations. Would seem to be a difficult task. Having read a few of the interviews floating around, i'm also now reasonably willing to believe that he probably didn't have much of a say in the sacking of Gomez anyway and that he was just given the chance to have a crack at management.

Sign a lucrative contract in which he asked for a Premiership release clause, He then gets tapped up by a championship rival and leaves. This after telling at least one fan to their face that he's going nowhere.
He also say's in his leaving message something along the lines of "I hope you get the success you deserve".... read into that what you think!

I'm sure he also said some negative things about us in the media

To be fair, I was over Pardew leaving fairly quickly but it's always good to rattle an opposition manager by not letting things rest when you play against them, it fires the supporters up, fires the team up and winds the opposition manager up.

I'd welcome him back to the club if the managers role comes up again.

So we took a nobody portuguese with a poor record, to a guy who's management record is LOST EVERY GAME HE'S EVER MANAGED. Okay, it was against Man Utd, so we know if we get them in the FA cup we'll lose. https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/20374677

And that was 7 years ago.

What does Bowen bring that, I don't know, the cat down the road doesn't bring? Seriously, could we not find anyone with anything in the whole world that might do better than the last lot of dross we've had?

Well, I guess it's inevitable we'll go down at some point, this season, next season? I suppose we can't rise from the asses until we get massively burned.

Ah yeah, that was it. I remember being a bit partridge.gif about it at the time - would be like Barnsley fans complaining that their manager's head was turned by Leeds. Of course Pardew wanted to go - it was West Ham.

Then again Mr Mad seemed to have the ability to pull people from nowhere and get them to work. Mr Dai seems to have the ability to get anyone who's useless and allow them to be useless a bit.

Feels like working for my company. People come and go and there doesn't seem to be any reason at all for why people get hired. They wanted sales people to speak English, so hired sales people who couldn't speak English, for example.

I understand him wanting to go, but he recently signed a new highly paid (by Reading standards) contract and asked for a premiership release clause. If he had a Premiership or West Ham clause, things would have been different.

Yeah the only thing I'd add to "and leaves" is that he just resigned because he wasn't allowed to talk to Wet Sham, and then went on and joined them. I think Wet Sham are the most despicable club in the country for this and other dealings generally, and are more to blame than Parjudas, but that's their business. Parj resigning to jump ship to WH the next day was absolutely and utterly disgusting. I'd love to have him back only to shout abuse at him every home game. So yeah, bring it on.

Going back before that, in Harry Redknaps autobiography there was a bit about him beating Reading to a player or poaching a player from us by offering one of the Reading staff a job at West Ham.

Right. But it was West Ham.
