2019/20 Injury Watch

by Snowflake Royal » 02 Aug 2019 12:46

So here we go again, will it be another season where the treatment room dominates our team selection? Let's hope not. Although after a decent preseason we're now immediately a couple of players down for the start of the season.

2 August 2019
Blackett - at least a week, maybe 2/3. Expected return - 24 August?
McIntyre - a few weeks. Expected return - 31 August?
Obita - some way from full training. Expected return - 2 November/never?

If recent years are anything to go by, Blackett's hamstring strain will be 6 months

No obvious new injuries post Weds, but Rino took a few whacks and was limping for a while second half.

Barrow took a pasting from Westwood too.

Damn, got to update this

Meite has foot injury. Not that serious.
Miazga looks to have a hamstring problem. Would guess he’ll be out until after the international break. 3M mk ii looks like it’ll be playing the next two games then.

Good news is that Obita seems to be ahead of schedule?... not clear where Blackett is, but he's not really overdue yet.

Boye and Joao out
Any update on Meite?
Is Barrett injured? Seems to have vanished off the earth
I presume Adam was missing from the squad on Tuesday because of his hamstring problem

Barrett was also sick last week.

Meite is out due to a knock picked up v Preston, not thought to be serious so may have been in the squad today.

Bowen's injury update after the Millwall match

“Moore said to me his shoulder had popped out in the first half. He had a couple of injections at half time but had a really bad fall in the second half and when he came off he was really sore.

“We’ll see how it settles down but he was certainly very sore.

“Rafael said he felt a pull in his calf too at the end so we’ll have to see how that settles down. He’ll have a scan on Monday to see how bad it is.”

Wonder if Mannone is back and available for selection again yet? the alternatives are frightening.

I spoke to Liam Moore after the match and he came off the pitch cos he was knocked out in the second fall. Said his shoulder was hurt in first half but was fine after the match.

Ouch. Thought he looked borderline concussed so makes sense.

What are modern concussion protocols? Pretty sure the safe thing would be to sit him out of the Luton match.

Yep, was surprised when his shoulder was mentioned as he looked classic punch-drunk after that second fall

If he actually had concussion, then it's 19 days! 14 days for stage 1, and minimum of 24 hours for each stage after that, in a 6 stage process

Moore and Rafael should be OK on Saturday according to Low

Joao now back in training

Seem to have a virtually full fit squad for once, depending on the knock to Obita too

Almost, may only be Charlie Adam (hamstring) left. Not heard an update but don’t think it was a serious one.

Now cue a load of training accidents and players on international duty getting crocked

Obita - should be back for Wigan
Boye - back for Brentford
Joao - back in training today, unlikely to make Brentford
Adam - also back in training
