Zip Agreed about Adam’s passes. Often positive passes played out wide. He did a look a level above at times in the first half.

He is a luxury though. Offers nothing defensively and with Rino off form they were waltzing through our midfield

Less Hollywood but far more balanced with Swift/Pele
luxury? lol, without him we would’ve barely gotten out of our own half...and yes, he tackled too

Yes a complete luxury. Can only play him successfully if there is a solid base behind him that Rino wasn’t

You’re ignoring the fact Derby played through our midfield with ease whilst he was on the pitch. Swift is far more rounded

Its overcorrecting from Spizz here. Nothing you said was unreasonable.

Not saying he didn’t play well - he did. But he has obvious limitations- and tbh was screaming for Pele to replace him in the 5 mins before he did. Was starting to be an accident waiting to happen

No he didn't.

Just had a look .Have they changed the rules ? Last man and all that.If they have you are correct.

Yes, if the defender is deemed to have made an honest attempt to get the ball then its now a yellow

No question his passing and experience are valuable, but it's also no surprise we've been frequently run through in midfield when he plays. He simply can't keep up with the pace of the game.

He really shouldn't be playing more than the last 25 minutes. I think anyone partnering him from the start would find it hard covering his defensive work as well as their own.

Doubt Pele would do much better. More defensive than Rino, but less good at carrying the ball forward.

It's still Swift, Pele and Rino for me, with Ejaria to come on and do damage late on. Starting for Pele against the weaker attacks.

I’d be happy with Swift + any 2 of Pele, Ejaria or rino tbh

he was tiring (but then, so was Meite shortly afterwards) , but that is what you get from a player in the twilight of his career...the substitution was always on the cards right from the kick-off.

Yes Derby were quick through the middle, and Reading (the left side being the most dominant) were playing the wide game. Yes, he has limitations...all of our current squad do, but.....

Still, not a “luxury” a decent stopxgap

By luxury, I mean it’s fine if you know you are going to have a big percentage of the ball and defending isn’t your priority or that impt - maybe 1-0 down with 20 to go or in the cup

But he just can’t do the defensive or work rate side of the game needed any more, so can’t play him regularly

He’s fine and a good option off the bench if needed - like he did vs Brum

Cool, maybe I’m just redefining ‘luxury’

Can only comment on what games that I have seen of him....and of course a lot of the positive reviews of him on here.

Great to have him on board, he is not the messiah, he is not the future of this club, but he is by no-means a “luxury”

I was in line with it in the East Stand, it looked like Meite was losing control of the ball so whilst it looked a pen, the sending off was very harsh

If it’s a pen it’s a sending off as Malone clearly wasn’t playing the ball

You can’t have Ejaria and Adam on the same pitch. Adam offered more end product.

I thought the overall performance was a 7/10.

The early red card and penalty was very welcome but even though we had the advantage in both score and numbers, Derby seemed to be the team on top and we were hanging on at times.

A win is a win, we move on and hopefully another three points on Boxing Day would be nice. Watching that one on TV though, can't be doing with the M5/M4 again this week.

Last thought......I thought they were lucky not to get a second red for the second penalty. Very dirty team with so many yellows and the red. They're in trouble.

Old Man Andrews
Singing Defective Was impressed with their fans..well apart from the bunch who got booted out early second half from Y23..

Was that first half in fact longer than the runway in Fast and Furious 6?

Their supporters were terrible. Nothing to be impressed by. Leeds supporters were the benchmark for away fans this season.

Adam left gaping holes in the midfield defensively but my word, he can put a pass in. Some of the stuff out wide was sublime.

Not sure I'll ever see a spawnier 3-0 win. Even against 10 men we were opened up far too easily at times. Couple of decent stops from Rafa at 1-0. The second goal was well timed and pretty much killed them off. Bowen can have some credit for the halftime team talk.

Thought dragging Rino off for Swift was odd. I'd have hooked Adam but it seems illness played a part. Ejaria, Swift and Rino/Pele is the way forward.

Shame about giving Hamer the "yoooooour're shit, ahhhhhh"

Was suffering from a bad cold. Which probably accounts for his under par performance.

It was good. We were never going to lose and deserved the 3-0 win. Adam was a world-beater for half an hour, and that was enough really. Joao was very good and Ejaria is the best player in the division. I suppose they all played well, including the subs.

The highlights didn't show the Adams foul that didn't lead to a penalty, but the ref seemed to get the other penalty decisions right. It isn't the best rule in the world though. Is the gentle push in the back really a more serious offence than the mowing tackle that had a 1% chance of getting the ball?

To win home games Bowen has to take risks. Better to be offensive than sit with 5 at the back and invite pressure onto ourselves. Given the limited resources available today.
