Rumour - Ronan Curtis

by Sutekh » 08 Jul 2020 17:16

Portsmouth striker/winger, 24 and Ireland international

Probably cost an arm and a leg but then if Swift and/or Moore are sold it could be a goer.

according to wiki, so take with a pinch of salt
' On 22 May 2018, League One side Portsmouth agreed a deal to sign Curtis from Derry City, for a transfer fee in the region of £100,000 on a two-year contract.' so looks like hes out of contract in the summer?

Weren't we heavily linked to him the window that Portsmouth signed him? He's looked really good the few times I've seen Portsmouth play this season

Sounds like the kind of player we should be going after.

What about Laurent? Is he a Pele type of player or a Rino type? If he’s the latter we could move to 2 box to box central midfielders and move to a formation that requires wingers, which would please the fanbase who are crying out to see wingers!
Imagine we won’t be in the strongest position to sign him though

I've not come across many people called Ronan before.

For that reason I'm out.

2 world wars, 1 world cup I've not come across many people called Ronan before.

For that reason I'm out.

Neither have I but it's an Irish name and I can't say I've encountered many Irish people.

Ronan Keating
Ronan O’Gara

I’ve not met many people called Yakou but I still think it’s the sort of name that suggests you might get 4 goals away at Luton one day.

The only Irish guys I have come across are 'Tommy Robinson' and the other English supremacist Braydon Anderson and none of them is called Ronan. And also the bald chap who ripped up the Pope.

I've never met anyone called "2 world wars" before. Is it a family name?

Also by that logic we would never have signed Yakou Meite

And I'd be a rubbish signing, which is my point.

Yes but as Nameless says it's a "score four at Luton" sort of name.

Not very handy for next season though, so he may have to go too.

LOL

I wouldn’t be adverse to signing someone called Ronan. Ronan Keating was successful (not at football) so I don’t think the name is an issue.

I’d put Ronan O’Gara higher up my list of ‘most successful Ronan's, the guy has an impressive cv

Was last summer I think, he signed for Pompey as thought he would have a quicker path to first team and prove himself in English football, seems to have done that.

I do think he would be a fantastic signing. Depending on what players we can shift during pre-season. He'd probably be on the upper range for League One players but after a successful season or two in the Championship would probably be worth twice as much.

Obviously.
Keating was a bloke in an identikit boy band, doubt most people would know which one. Boyslife, or Westzone or something. No one could name any songs he recorded.
O’Gara was a seriously good rugby player, 3 Lions tours, all sorts of points and appearance records.
No contest.
