Stranded From my side, am of the view that I can't change what us happening, we are a soap opera and our character is either about to win the lottery or be killed off.

Might as well enjoy the ride.

My perspective is I can't change it, but I can decide whether to be a part of it.

This is no longer the club I fell in love with and admired. It offers me very little right now, and I completely disagree with the way we operate.

A lot of people were very vocal about the way SJM operated, it was widely believed his way cost us our place in the PL , long term financial stability etc etc.

SJM made no secret of the fact his pockets weren't as deep as other club owners. Nor was he complimentary towards wages, agents fees nor players spiralling valuations. He was a man in the Hesketh mold fighting the titans of Ferrari.

I don’t necessarily think he was wrong, but stuff people are getting wound up about now was going on then (chucking big money at players like Fae and Halford who then contributed absolutely nothing), and lack of any strategic plan after we got promoted meant we threw away our once in a lifetime opportunity to make the transition to being PL club...

What are we actually gaining from this match?

3-0 down at HT. Looked good going forward but sloppy at the back by all accounts, created some decent chances though. Spurs clinical, as you’d expect.

Laurent seems to be having another good game.

Not sure

If the idea was for the players to feel demoralised that's probably happening

An excuse for fans to welcome the managerial change.

To prove we can carry on where we left off last season.

Thought we did OK. Spuds were more clinical.

Looked tidy, especially first half.

Changes disrupted the game.

Fairly obviously a fitness exercise as is all preseason, good experience for young players, integration for Laurent and a no downside test against a top quality side.

Lose big, it's Spurs, write it off no harm
Narrow defeat or draw - morale boost with a good performance
Win, big morale boost

Good pen from Puscas. Shot would’ve gone in if defender didn’t handle the ball anyway.

Guess what? The West Ham friendly is off due to a "change in circumstances"......

Really hope the new guy keeps this shape/system, think there is a lot of potential with it. Back 3 probably need time to bed in, but it suits a lot of our players.

Must admit from whatI watched it looked promising, certainly from an attacking point of view.
Bit concerned that we’ll be very vulnerable out wide as the wingbacks seemed quite high.

I read somewhere that new bloke prefers 4-2-3-1 and 4-3-3, however he isn’t adverse to using 3 at the back if the need arises, which, to my mind, doesn’t sound a whole lot different from what MB tends to play.

Yeah true, I think yiadom and Richards want to play like that even in a 4 though so at least this in theory brings in a bit of extra cover, and if the back 3 get more comfortable covering the channels we could be on to something. Would have been nice to have the west ham game as extra bedding in time...

Didn’t watch but few things I’ve seen suggested Holmes did well. Be a good 4th choice if he is up to it

All now gone off to Portugal for a short “training camp” and friendly (probably on 1st September, wonder if it’ll be v Porto).

Back in time to lose to Colchester.
