BGTF Coventry

Ok, we finally lost, just. Big wow.

Shit weather, Rafael off day. Olise off day. Joao off day (for him). Aluko not shining on the wing.

We're not going to win every game, and tbh a close defeat with some off days doesn't bother me in the slightest. It's not like we lost 7-2 like some teams I know.

Nothing to see here, move on.

TOP OF THE LEAGUE.

URZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm fine with losing, it was going to happen eventually. All about how we respond next week

Ridiculous how Aluko solely is getting blamed for this

It didn't seem like we played particularly bad, just that things weren't happening for us.

Had Joao scored that 1v1, that would have changed the game. But he didn't, and the result in the end was probably fair. (Them winning, not the 3:1 scoreline)

This is arguably a blessing in disguise, as we're no longer the team everyone wants to beat.

Remember that we're missing 3 first team starters too, so it isn't really that bad on reflection. Regardless of this weekend's games, we will still be top by 3 points in a worst case scenario.

Hopfully this will give the team the lesson they needed to remain driven and focussed.

Not sure what happened after we got the equaliser
Surely a team with promotion pretensions should not go behind again to a team in Coventrys position
Over confidence.
Lack of concentration?

Two home games ahead after a long week on the road. I’ve no doubt at all that the players will want to get a result on Tuesday - tried to the very end and never gave up. That’s all you can ask for.

They’ll analyse those goals in detail and come back stronger. Credit to Coventry - but we weren’t being overrun at all. Dust off that blip; it really was a blip and you could still see the quality in our team compared to them at the 95th minute.

Was our only attacking threat in the first half too. I wonder how many people actually watched the game.

The team looked tired and lethargic tonight with sloppy passing and no pace in the build up play. I guess the energy put into the Blackburn game and the short turn around of this game took its toll.
However, maybe with Meite out we could try a 3-5-2 formation:

Moore, Morrision and McIntrye as a back three, Richards and Esteves as wing backs, Olise, Rinhomota and Laurent in the middle and Joao and Puscas up front. Might work as a plan B.

Anyway, we move on and hopefully back to winning ways against Preston, and with an extra days rest.

Typical Reading to lose to rubbish like Coventry.

Don't know why season after season we let teams at the bottom who are bang out form, and even then not much cop when in form, have a confidence boosting result.

Very poor tonight. Should have done better but it was bound to happen. The injuries are beginning to rack up. We need to bounce back on Wednesday

Rafael 4 Badly at fault for the third, should have done better for the second
Esteves 5 Didn’t really bomb forward. Some sloppy passes. Played Godden on for the second.
Morrison 5 Poor clearance for the first. Even one or two poor headers
Moore 6 Ok. Worrying that it looks like he is out for a while
Richards 6 Some nice passes. Did ok
Rinomhota 6 OK.Put in some good tackles.
Laurent 6 A bit hit and miss. Positioning not great
Semedo 6 Started brightly but faded
Olise 5 Nowhere near his best
Aluko 5 Should have done better at the start with an interception.Very mixed
Joao 5 Cracking goal but missed two great chances

Puscas 6 Scored but came on way too late
McIntyre 6 Did ok.Will surely start on Wednesday.

That would be my line up assuming none of the injured are back.

We generated more than enough opportunities in attack and had a couple of shockers in defence.

This is the championship, it happens. And as far as losses go it wasn't that bad. All about PNE on Tuesday now, a win there and this match will be quickly forgotten.

Funny I would have your scores and comments the other way round for Rafael and Laurent.

Laurent got caught out for 1st & 3rd goals...but he’s been a great player for us so no issues really

Decent finishes from our front me

The biggest loss is on the injuries front

The leagues average at best so far this season so we’ve got enough that we’re not going to slip in the bottom half the way it’s going. That should be seen as progress

Fair enough. Rafael has been so consistently good and makes so few errors but the third was awful. The second wasn’t so bad but he did parry it into the path of their striker.
It looks like Moore is out for a while. We need the international break, Get some injured players back and give the players a rest.

Wasn`t the worse performance ever, but clearly Coventry were more up for it than us. as usual Aluko is the scapegoat, he wasn`t great but neither were a few of the others.

Rafael. poor for the second and third goals. 4

Esteves. certainly didn`t live up to the plaudits he got at Blackburn, poor going forward and a few bad crosses. 5
Morrison, didn`t do too much wrong . 6
Moore . first goal went through his legs and not quick enough to close down the long range shots that resulted in all 3 goals. 5
Richards. he did ok going forward, didn`t notice too much wrong with his defending . 6

Riinomhota. he`s got a good engine, covered alot of ground . 6
Laurent. same as above. 6
Olise. maybe he`s listening too much to the praise he is getting. poor tonight. 5
Semeto, probably the best of the midfield, puts himself about . 7
Aluko. marmite, either you love him or hate him, tonight it was somewhere in between, didn`t capitulate on a very bad mistake in the first half, good free kick well saved, he did lots of decent things, but at the same time there was some of the old Aluko in there too. 6

Joao. as usual a constant menace, missed a glorious one on one , then scored, on another day he gets an hat trick, 7

Subs.
Puscas, not on long but scored . 6
McIntyre N/A

Quite a few were at fault for the first. Esteves could have made more of an effort to win the ball and Morrison made a poor clearance. You could argue Moore and Rafael could have done better. Not just down to Laurent.
