Why would Joao slide in Aluko when he could shoot from a position he's previously scored?

Joao is a selfish player (not a bad thing imo) so if he didn't think the shot was on, the shot wasn't on.

It looked a fairly genuine attempt to win the ball, that he fluffed and then continued to flap into Semedo.

Semedo was kinda going away from goal.
