No chance. His wages are about £80k a week.

Isn't this the exact kind of deal that blows up in our face?

Far far too good for this level and far too expensive.

Only makes sense if a loan with guarantee to buy if promoted.

With the new rules on transfers from outside the UK, these sort of deals are likely to be rumoured.

Why would they offer a deal with Richards when they can approach him for peanuts in 3 weeks

They might be able to approach him but if they wanted to sign him in January(rather than in the Summer) they would have to pay a fee as he is still under contract surely?.

Yeah, but he wouldn't be a guaranteed starter so why would they when they can pick him up on the cheap in 6 months.

Seriously? A 30 year old defender who has played on average 15 games a season in the 6 years he’s been at United? Unless he’s absolutely desperate to play regular football he’s hardly going to drop a level let alone take a considerable pay cut. Therefore a loan is the only realistic possibility.

I dunno-with their useless left-backs he could possibly get a game straight away.
Anyway, not a serious suggestion and he got crocked yesterday so with Reading's record with injuries he'll probably be out till after the window closes.

£150K a week according to Duncan Castles.

We have made a loan offer, however Sheff Utd seem most likely destination

Seriously think there comes a point when salaries in all lines of “work” should be capped and perhaps also have lower caps for under 20s and 20-23s. Hope the professional game at least opts to go down some form of a squad salary cap route at some point in the near future.
