Sign Esteves and Semedo?

So if we have the opportunity to sign either of Esteves or Semedo next season and the price was right would you want us to sign either of them?

They've both been pretty average at best, but Esteves is still very young, and should have a decent career. If they were both offered to us for free, I'd take Esteves but not Semedo. I doubt we'll be signing either of them, so hopefully we won't see them in the last two games.

Esteves has been under used. Semedo just didn’t seem a fit for how we play.

When Semedo has played defensive midfield he has looked useful but has not had much opportunity as Rino and Laurent have mainly been fit. Would like to see him back if affordable but Esteves would be a definite no for me.

Semedo is just another overrated foreign player who has graced these shores. Complete waste of space adds nothing to the team. One suspects a signing made out of desperation rather than being scouted.

They were both reasonable enough. Semedo did a good job for us overall. Esteves has talent but unsurprisingly found at the age of 18 it quite tough going in the champ. He’ll be a decent player in time

I’d definitely take Esteves if we could afford/offered (we won’t on either). Semedo prob not really. But he didn’t disgrace himself

I’d take Semedo on a free, he’s a solid back-up player who did a job. With our budget stretched so thin, I wouldn’t pay more than a nominal fee.

I wouldn’t take Esteves based on his current ability, but he is likely to have resale value. Whether he can realise that value with us is another matter.

Esteves is very very raw. Much more than I had expected given how coveted he was when he arrived. Yes, the Championship is a different (and much more physical) league and there was always going to be a period of adapting, but I feel he's never got past that really pushed on. It's been one of those bide the time, tread water loans where he's probably got better but not to our benefit. No doubt he'll have a great career and be a stellar RB within a few years, but I feel like we've had the worst of him. Not quite as bad as Gibson, who'll be lucky to be turning out for Tranmere next season, but just a bit meh.

Semedo. Could/should have been reasonable cover for Rino and Laurent, but gets pushed forward into an unfamiliar position. I don't think, aside from a few moments of brilliance, he has ever really done enough to justify not trying someone else, and have thought quite a few times when he started that VP should have tried Aluko/Onen etc. Won't miss him.

Summary, if we could, I'd take Esteves and continue his development. No to Semedo.

Semedo seems to be under-rated here

He has been used as a bit-part player, rarely settled but has made
important interceptions, blocks, passes and has scored two and had two assists
He was also WS's MotM for one game.

If he was free he would be a great squad player and perfect cover for the Rhino-Laurent pairing
