Visiting team the furthest possible distance away hardly helps
COVID will be the big thing , lots of people still not ready for crowds

I also think the club has lost it connection with the fans, does not help. Removing the blue collar food and the match day programme plus COVID does not make it great match day experience at the moment….

STAR should take this up with the club . Maybe have one game £1 all members , free beer to season ticket holders !

I think a lot of people will have really missed it, but quite a few will have realised they hadn't been enjoying it and only went out of a habit which has been broken.

Plus a few exiles, like me, who have got round to finding a way to watch remotely to avoid the cost and travel time to go.

I've gone from spending about £900 a season and 85 hours traveling to watch about 17 games to £200 with no travel to see about 35 games. Its a no brainer really.

It shouldn’t be too bad as Bristol City have sold out so there will be 2100 away fans for a start. I’m guessing around 13,000 in total.

It's been said already but I think there's been a disconnect between the club and the fans over the past year or two.

After 18 months without regular home games, you'd expect more to turnout but I don't think Covid is the reason. I think people are disillusioned at the moment. No signings, lots of negativity, talk of FFP, no communication from the club until heavily pressured on social media and people have drifted away from what has become a duty bound Saturday task, rather than a passion.

Having said all that, I still expect a better crowd on Tuesday but mainly because City will bring a large following.

The past few seasons have been wearing. No further forward than when MCD was kicked out and Stam appointed. The club is where it is through bad top management. No long term plan. A revolving door of players and managers.

Covid definitely had an impact in a number of ways. Goìng to football will still be seen as a risk for some, one they just won't take.

But if the team do well again this year and things don't worsen Covid wise, attendance will pick up again.

We probably have a hardcore 12-15k so a little below that at the mo but we all know if we go well that will pick up.

We've had one good and one OK season in terms of home performances in a decade.

No one wants to come and be disappointed regularly. Even in poor seasons you should be winning more at home than we have in almost any season in that time.

Our home record over the last ten years is disgraceful.

If people aren’t turning up because of the food and the fact there isn’t a programme anymore more rather than what is happening on the pitch, I’d argue that they’ve been looking for any excuse to stop going for a while.

For me, I’ve missed it immensely and will be going to as many home games as I can. I can’t wait for Tuesday and getting home after midnight after schlepping across London - wouldn’t have it any other way.

Also, before looking inwards and blaming our club, which our fans love to do, is there any stats on attendances throughout the league? Were they all down on average opening days?

It's covid, 2 retired guys local to me said they will miss a few games until the numbers come down (whenever that will happen).
Suspect there will be quite a few like that.

Modern day football, especially the Premier League, is planned around the armchair fan, with sponsorship, advertising and tv money, while those that actually attend the game are being regarded as irrelevant.

Hopefully see that change a bit following the pandemic, having seen the effect of lost ticket revenue, hospitality, and how a lack of atmosphere inside the stadium affects remote armchair enjoyment.
