linkenholtroyal I still think Hal Robson Kanu might be the answer and not for sentimental reasons.
He could play as a foil alongside Puscas and hold the ball up like Joao does. Ok he is not going to score 20 a season but he could help Puscas to. He would also potentially take a year contract on low wages with us.

Some Twitter rumours this morning that HRK is someone we are looking at. I would certainly have no issue with him coming back.

I would. Definitely one of the worst players to ever pull on the shirt.

Well, that's certainly an interesting view.

I think HRK for a year would be a smart deal to be honest. Hard working and a physical presence capable of holding the ball up. The sort of signing we're looking at in our position.

Nobody has mentioned Pedro Mendes this window.

Is that personal feelings followed by your view as a Reading supporter??

Not his biggest fan by any stretch of the imagination, but would be hard to argue against a 1 year deal on low wages, just as an extra body.

As I recall he does really well when in last year of a contract but is largely anonymous otherwise. A 1 year deal therefore works for me.

Got double figures in the Championship just the season before last, wouldn't be a terrible signing at all.

I am at the stage were beggars cant be choosers right now. If we can get an experienced striker in with any sort of goal scoring record its a yes from me.
I am not convinced we need a replacement Joao. We need another CF. If they can do link up play then great, he just needs to know how to get into the box and score goals.
People saying Puscas isn't up to it - lets face it, when Joao was scoring for fun we weren't launching balls into him to battle for it there was quick direct decisive passes.
When he wasn't scoring and struggling we were playing the exact same way we are playing with Puscas, long balls into no mans land and aimless, tired balls forward.

I just think Puscas is not match fit/sharp to be honest, and hasn't been since this time last year. he has barely played since he got injured with Romania, didnt have a preseason this and has been chucked pretty much straight in.

We know he is a bit limited, but all this 'not trying' stuff is nonsense. He'll get better with game time. But we do still need an alternative/back up

A no thanks from me. Isn’t he also pretty injury prone?

Never rated HRK as a striker. He’s a good winger, particularly from the bench, but he’s no Joao.

Maybe we'll do better. After all, we were expecting Kadeem Harris and got Junior Hoilett, while Bashiru is also a better signing than expected in our FFP straight-jacket

No-one does just that he might be a cheap option to cover an injury.
