I get him wanting to move on but he's 22 - so no need to move now. Have 1 year playing in the same side as Messi and Neymar and then as a free agent, have your pick of every club in the world. Madrid will still want him next summer.

PSG may try and force him out to recoup funds and allow them to complete the thought experiment of could Messi & Ronaldo play together.

I guess the other thing is that if he winds his contract down, Madrid are potentially allowing someone else to come in and grab him from under them.

True - they will likely see the €160m fee as something they will make back easily in shirt sales.

Shirt sales covering transfer fees is a myth

Exactly and if there will ever be anyone to take him from Madrid in a few years, they'll probably get that €160m back plus more.

Obviously Mbappe is a really good player but whenever I have seen him play in the really big games he hasn't really done a lot for me. A very good player can look like a great player in the French League.

Absolutely sensational player. Very much the next best forward (alongside Haaland) after Messi & Ronaldo

Can't do it in the big games...

Yeah, only scored a 25 yarder in a wold cup final, being only the 2nd teenager after Pele to score in a World Cup final.

2018 FIFA World Cup
On 17 May 2018, Mbappé was called up to the France squad for the 2018 World Cup in Russia.[104] On 21 June 2018, he scored his first World Cup goal in France's 1–0 Group C win over Peru. This made him the youngest French goalscorer in World Cup history at age 19.[105] On 30 June 2018, he was named man of the match in a 4–3 win over Argentina, scoring twice and suffering a foul in the box which resulted in Antoine Griezmann opening the score from a penalty kick.[106] Mbappé was the second teenager to score two goals in a World Cup match after Pelé in 1958.[107] In a post-match press conference, Mbappé stated: "It's flattering to be the second one after Pelé but let's put things into context – Pelé is in another category."[108]

On 15 July, Mbappé scored with a 25-yard strike against Croatia in the 2018 World Cup Final, with France winning 4–2.[109] He became the second teenager, after Pelé, to score in a World Cup Final, and with four goals in the tournament he received the FIFA World Cup Best Young Player Award.[110] Pelé congratulated him on social media, and stated "welcome to the club".[111]

He is 22, probably 4 years away from his prime years still and is only going to get better. He is 100% going to be one of the best players in the world for the next 10 years, at least.

He'll go to Madrid and score an absolute bucketful of goals.

If scoring 79 goals in 83 = regression? Ok...

In the French League:

2018-19 33 goals in 27 games

2019 -20 18 goals in 20 games

2020 -21 27 goals in 31 games

His best season statistically was his first full one at PSG in 2018.

Regressed.

Bit silly to claim that Mbappe has 'regressed'. You could get away with 'not improved', if you really wanted to, but when you're scoring broadly a goal a game, that is actually okay (and moreover, historically almost unprecedented - Messi and Ronaldo are outliers like Muller, not any kind of normal).

Harry Kane - what a mess. Terrific striker who should have left Spurs a couple of years ago. Now he is late 20s, tied to the club until he is nearly 31 and with a slightly dodgy injury record. Spurs can just keep pricing him out of a move.

I can't really see him leaving at all now. Next summer, Haaland will be available for 75m and Kane will be 29.

I think every top club will activate that clause. Haaland's agent is going to absolutely rake in the fees...

Absolutely clueless opinion to say he isn't a big game player and the 3rd best forward in the world

oxf*rd ripped Argentina to shreds in the WC

It's one of the sad parts of today's game that his destination may in part be determined by whether or not a club is willing to give Mino Raiola €20m+ for 'negotiating' the deal.

Leonardo confirms that Mbappe can leave.

Kylian Mbappe wants to leave, that seems clear," Leonardo told French outlet RMC on Wednesday. "If he wants to leave, we are not going to keep him, but it will be done under our conditions.

"We have spoken a lot with Kylian and he always tells us the same thing. Kylian has always promised us that he would never leave the club on a free transfer."

Speaking with Spanish newspaper Marca, Leonardo added that Madrid's bid "is not sufficient."

"It's a long way from what we think, and we won't offload a player for less than we paid for him at 18 years old," he said. "Verbally we've said no to Madrid," Leonardo said. "We haven't received another offer from Madrid. If Mbappe wants to go, he'll go, but with our conditions."
