Millsy Bump.
We've had a serious problem for a long time. This isn't normal.

There's been a lot of unusual things going on recently...
As the article on the club site details, these aren't really the sort of injuries that the medical staff can prevent. We've just been very unlucky - as it was almost inevitable someone would be.

I totally disagree. This has been going on a long time. I know some stuff about changes that have been made. Good decisions aren't being made.
Take Azeez for instance. In the first half. Clearly brought back too early. Not rehabbed properly? Not assessed properly? Pushed too soon?
It's been a shitshow for several years.

windermereROYAL You only have to look back at the 106 season, more or less an unchanged team or all 46 games. there were a few niggles but they were normally back within a few weeks.
They weren`t made of glass like this lot.

Not sure if anyone knows what the average number of injuries a team at this level would expect to carry across a season but I would suggest that Reading have considerably exceeded whatever that figure may be for 4 of the last 5 seasons.
Might there be some issue with the way the managers are working the squad to support the tedious possession game they all seem to want to play here?

Seem to recall Kitson, Shorey and Sidwell getting injured in late August and missing a good few weeks of the season. Lita had a broken ankle in the latter part.

Completely wrong, as discussed recently, the iconic lineup of Hahnemann-Murty-Sonko-Ivar-Shorey-Little-Sidwell-Harper-Convey-Doyle-Kitson actually only started six games. We very rarely had an unchanged side.
Little, Sidwell, Kitson and Lita all missed significant periods of the season. We had to use Stephen Hunt as a striker and a left back at various times. We were very lucky that Sonko and Ivar were fit all season (as well as Harper and Convey). At one stage we had Murty, Shorey, Sidwell, Kitson, and Little all injured, plus Stack unavailable. Check out the famous win over Sheffield United - our bench was Federici, Osano, Baradji, Oster (on for injured Little at half time) and Obinna.
One major difference is that back then we had a core squad of 15 outfield players. Now we have a squad of 22 or 23 outfield players, 50% bigger. So having 50% more injuries makes sense even before we consider things like COVID.
