So we've had 12 games, and only one of them has had more than one goal - and two of those were pens.

URZZZZ
Sanguine Worst bit is that this group stage only gets rid of eight teams. Looked this up as wondered if Egypt's defeat risked them going out, and Salah returning to Liverpool early. Four of the third-placed sides go through. :|

Agreed, don't like the fact that three teams can go through nowadays. Euro 2016 was a rather disappointing tournament as it encourages more teams to play for a draw. Didn't Portugal win zero group games that year, even whilst winning the tournament?

Would prefer if they just went straight to the quarters instead or increasing the number of teams in a tournament to be perfectly divisible (i.e. 32 teams rather than 24)

More examples as to why football is so cr@p these days. It’s seems everyone has to “win something” and the chances for the bigger teams to get through have to be maximised (rather than just saying “tough, you cocked it up”). It’s largely the same approach in all tournanent finals, just like the utter tedium that European club competitions has become.

Going back to Portugal in 2016, not only did they fail to win a single group game (they drew all three and went through in third place), but Wales in the semi-finals were the only team that they beat (of seven) in 90 minutes in the whole tournament. They got past Croatia (R16) and France (Final) in extra time, and Poland on penalties.

Teklemariam Shanko plays his club football for Ethiopian Coffee. He was guilty of a latte challenge earlier in the game that was looked at by VAR.

These games should be on Comedy Central not Sky Sports.

I was getting frustrated at the appalling quality until I started to see the funny side. Now it’s laugh a minute.

The commentary helps in that regard - “That would have been a great goal if it had gone anywhere near…”

They really need to sort the pitches out. They one for Ivory Coast v Sierra Leone was awful culminating in a comedy equalizer for Sierra Leone after the Ivory Coast keeper got a tank slapper diving to save a header pass back from going out for a corner.

NathStPaul It has been a really poor tournament so far, resembles one of those awful preseason Emirates tournaments.

Yeh, even the individual players like Mane, Salah, Yiadom and Mahrez have been shite.

Have to wonder if they are focussed on not getting injured rather than winning matches for their teams. I think the tournment will come alive in the knockout phase but the group stages will be a real slog to get through. I ended up putting an old episode of the Bill on yesterday afternoon, it was way better than the football.

How old are we talking? Tosh Lyons?

Ghana losing, very early I know but they need to win to have a chance of getting out of the group stages, if they don`t Yiadom and Baba are coming home earlier than we would expect.

If Ghana do go out I wonder whether Yids and Rahman will be available on Saturday?

2-0 to Comoros, Ghana crashing out, at least Rahman and Yiadom will be used to this.
