AthleticoSpizz think it’s the other way around…BBCB were binned-off in the early 2000s in favour of some otherTwo ten fm wanbabees.

As it seems all BBC Local Radio Stations do the commentaries on their local club(s) I wouldn't be surprised if it was a national contract for the BBC to do the commentary. Did JM own 2/ten and the club at the time and was the studio in the Stadium somewhere?
no, it was 107fm

Thanks. Was it 2/ten FM or 107fm who did the commentaries?

windermereROYAL We`ve conceded 34 goals at home. 14 more than the next highest which is Cardiff on 20. that`s awful whichever way you look at it.

This must be close to the most amount of goals we have ever conceded at home by this stage of the season. In total 60 conceded from 30 games. That’s unbelievably bad.

Haven't got the split between home and away before 1945 but (somebody else can check since 2003) this is the worst by far at home for conceding in the 58 years between 1945 and 2003 and I guess earlier than that and later .

It feels like a relegation season.
We play ok for the first 20 minutes or so, with even the likes of Rahman making tackles and Laurent making runs forward but , I think the word is profligate, the inevitability of conceding from corners.

I have always felt that if you overcrowd the penalty area players are bound to get in each others' way.

If you leave 2 players up at the half-way line the other side is bound to bring 3 players back to mark them meaning that we have one extra defender.
The mindset of the manager is defensive and if overcrowding our own penalty area is not bad enough what are we doing still passing the ball around deep in our half when supposedly chasing the game and what was that little lad who came on as sub near the end meant to bring to the game?

I thought that he had to be a flying winger playing ahead of Yiadom and meant to produce crosses to Meite and Joao.
Unfair perhaps to criticise him as he wasn't on for long but he just fiddled around with the ball going nowhere which kind of sums up our team at the moment..

Anyone know how many goals we have conceded from corners? City’s second goal just summed it up for me. You could see it happening a mile off run from deep no one picks him up simple header.

I know some people get all upset when we talk about zonal so I won't.

Pauno gave Dellor some stats that show despite what we can see with our own eyes we've something like the best stats when it comes to defending corners since records began.

The old "A-Z of Reading Football Club" lists our worst home season, defensively, as 1955/56, where 37 goals were let in. We are only three goals off that now.

57 goals in 16 home games is over 3.5 a game, which is crazy.

In total. Scored 23, conceded 34. Only 4 or 5 teams have scored more at home than us in the division.

Oh I see. Yes it’s bit mad. The sad part of this is that our last two home games have been very entertaining and if we were safe in mid table I would have enjoyed them. In our desperate plight it’s just grim.

At least you'll never be short of entertainment from a neutral perspective, or an away fans perspective because you're almost certain to win an away thriller.

It just feels so sad that what should be such a wonderful club and a genuinely nice place to play/watch football at a good level has been turned into an absolute horror show. I can always understand woeful runs of form because they happen, but this is something else.

Poor Pauno to be honest. A humble character suffering and had fans running onto the pitch in protest because of him when everything should truly be pointed towards the owners.

oxf*rd off you’re so tiresome

Poor Pauno? The owners have given him a squad capable of achieving success yet time and time again snatches defeat from the jaws of victory, he has no managerial ability and is basically at present, the entire reason our performances and results are appalling.

Humble man? You obviously haven’t listened to any of his interviews. He’s arrogant and stubborn and instead of even attempting to take responsibility and be humble, he throws tantrums and storms of our interviews when asked difficult but justified questions.

Are you John from BBCRB?

What a dickhead he was.

"Don't blame the manager he almost got them promoted last season"

Yeah, he blew a lead at the top and didn't even make the play offs.

What is that last paragraph about? He's taking the club for a ride and is universally hated by players and fans alike. There is a reason for that, it's not an accident.

People have no problem discussing the problem with corners.

The issue they have is the problems we have being mindlessly ascribed to a type of marking which is perfectly successful all over the country, rather than actually calling out the terrible coaching and implementation of it.

But you know that, because it's been explained to you before. And you even accepted it at least once.

Personal opinion, I actually quite like him. I don't like that he's still managing our club, mind, but I don't actually dislike him as a manager, I just wish he wasn't here for the better of himself and the club really.

He can take a big proportion of the blame for our current form obviously along with his staff and players, but I can't imagine it would have been much better with anyone else who would have been in charge for as long as he has. I don't think the players hate him, but of course they know a change needs to be made because his management isn't working right now, it happens, its football.

Yeah absolute nonsense.

Does a humble man keep doing exactly the same thing when it's failures are so obvious and repeatedly pointed out?

Does he stick to his vision when it's not working?

No. He adapts. He compromises.

For less than 45 minutes of 1 game did Pauno compromise in having everyone back at corners.

For one game has he tried 2 up front. For barely more than that has he tried different shapes.

He continually and persistently misused Puscas upfront alone.

He's dropped Southwood for a teenage loanee who is no better, rather than changing any of his defensive coaching.

He and his coaching team lack any discipline and frequently rant and rave at the 4th official.

He takes a defeat and talks about how well he thought we played on a horrendous run of defeats.

Humble my arse.
