Tbf the majority of the reports said he was "close to being sacked". And we all just took that as meaning it's imminent. Either way it seems the players are done with him, and expect him to go asap, so waiting until after the Posh game would be a disaster.

morganb Someone else on Twitter deciding to go with the opposite of what all the other journalists out there were reporting last night:

-No one in the coaching set up has been told Pauno is going/ No one has been prepared for it
- Michael Gilkes and Co are taking their U23's game against Derby
- Feeling is to hang on until after Peterborough game
- Owner not making decisions...

Rumour started with the Chronicle, then SkySportsPete got involved, then JLow, the Niko at The Sun, so there has to be something in this. Nicko doesn't usually hop on the hashtag bandwagon.

Well if they are waiting till after the posh game doesn`t that put the players that allegedly want him gone in a catch 22 situation. as well as the fans, do we want to lose, and drop into the bottom 3 to see him gone?

If they made the decision only yesterday I can imagine there is a lot of wrangling going on about the compensation. It is a lot of work to lay off multiple people simultaneously and pay them out.

I mentioned it earlier, you can also look at the delay in an encouraging way. Maybe the club don't want to throw Gilkes in the deep end and are making enquiries elsewhere. If it leads to them appointing someone until the end of the season who can guarantee we get out of this mess then I can wait a day.

Wouldn't be surprised if coaches and even Pauno are kept in the dark only to find out via a statement like the rest of us.

The only thing I don't get is surely Dai knew this was on the cards and will have made plans, be it discussing compensation, prepping Gilksey, getting someone else in etc etc.

I can't believe he had no idea Pauno needs to go and just made a snap decision yesterday after reflecting on the protests and is starting from scratch. :?: :?:

Maybe the club couldn't find a sorry you are leaving card in amongst all the valentine cards, so the owners are holding off? So holding out for this to be rectified tomorrow.

There will not be an announcement. Just wait for a different man to take up his place in the technical area. No communication is the (new) Reading Way isn't it?

eddie itk from twatter

People are asking me what I know:

Paunovic offered to leave the club a few weeks ago, the club rejected it.

A rumour went around the dressing room (inc players and staff) last week that Pauno would be gone by today (14th).

Imagine turning down his offer to leave. Shows how fcuked we are even if Paunovic leaves. Nobody has the slightest clue.

How the oxf*rd do you reject a manager's resignation on the back of poor form? Surely to be at the point he offered to leave he must be a broken man already, something people have picked up in his post-match interviews.

oxf*rd moronic.

Our owners are totally clueless. I suppose their track record shouldn’t surprise us but they will see us relegated and then realise how damaging that will be.
