Remind me how many total Howlers Hein has made costing us goals and points.

Give him a chance, he's only played 2 games.

Exactly.

We should give him a chance.

None - he's been fine.

Wouldn't be my choice to have a short term loannee in goal over one of the few players currently contracted beyond the summer but of all the issues we have, his performances haven't been one to date.

I think he and Southwood are pretty much interchangeable. One in the same tbh.

looks more confident on crosses but a lot less with the ball at his feet. Bit of a pointless signing and change in the team tbh, esp as one will be here next year and the other won't

Not banking on Southwood being a long term solution. I think if an experienced Championship keeper is available on a free this summer we will be in for him. I wanted Southwood to be the long term goalkeeper for us but I just think the Championship is a level above his ability level based on what I have seen of him this season.

Not sure he'll need to be championship level next season tbh, but yes thats probably fair

Yes good point. If we go down he will definitely be needed and will probably do well in League 1.

Think Southwood is superior from what I've seen.

Southwood was great with crosses until the Derby game. Then lost all confidence.

I think the change was partly driven by the fact that the defence is leaking goals left, right and centre but as we only had 2 fully fit CBs and only 1 senior RB, 1 senior LB - the only area where change was possible was at GK - the fact Southwood has made some mistakes that lead to goals made that change easier to make.

Now McIntyre is close to a full return, there is a little more flexability in what we can do at the back, so we may see Southwood return if Hein has a poor game or two - unless there is a clause in the contract with Arsenal that he has to play X games whilst here.

Southwood has been dealt the shitty end of the stick with our own horrendous tactics playing against him. I genuinely believe if we didn't pack the box with all of our players on set pieces most of Southwoods mistakes would have been avoided and we would be a few points better off.
He clearly needed a break from the 1st team and we had no other options - now we have another young keeper to break but at least this one we can return.
I am not convinced that Hein is an upgrade, it certainly looked he wasn't that comfortable with the ball at his feet and his kicking was off.

Southwood v Hein is nothing to do with anything really tbh so a mildly interesting discussion at best.

No strong feelings either way. Southwood has been alright but a few howlers in him, not ready for this level or a relegation battle. Can totally see why we may want to experiment. Hein seems ok but young so will have errors in him too. Too early to tell. Both meh. Flip a coin, take your pick, move on.

Outstanding save by Hein on Saturday, the ball was past him when he clawed it out, unsighted for the first because of the packed 6 yard box, helpless for the second because nobody picked up the runner, and an outrageous deflection for the third, can`t blame him for any of the five he`s let through so far.

I want to say he could have done better with the deflected lob, but if I'm being realistic there's no way I'd say that about Southwood so I won't.

Think that one on one he stopped that then got squared was not an error as such but weak. Maybe could have made it safe with his stop. Maybe could have dived on it quicker and stopped the square ball.

He's been ok. But there was still no good reason to risk him over Southwood.

Hein doesn't get kicked in the head almost every game like Southwood did at the start so I'm not a fan. If a goalie doesn't have the magic sponge at least once a game they're not trying hard enough...

What happened to Jokull Andresson - recalled from loan, listed as part of the U23s but with no squad number.

Missing, presumed injured.

Actually he was apparently called up by Iceland (full level) for two friendlies in January; D 1-1 v Uganda and L 1-5 v South Korea (he played v Uganda, on bench v South Korea) so presume he got injured while with them

I don't think Hein has done too badly. Agree with those who think he (or someone else, but I'm not suggesting Southwood) maybe could have done better with the deflected effort on Saturday, but I wouldn't put it down as an error.

I wouldn't say he's made an clear and obvious errors so far really and I wouldn't say he is necessarily out of his depth either, but possibly a lack of experience is working against him in some situations. Room to improve, but not a bad start overall. I can see why he was signed, I just wish it was someone better.

He could do absolutely nothing about that lob - not a thing.....
