Stevie G As a measure of the top level thinking/pressure, SJM went on record just several weeks ago suggesting that we stick with Pauno.

He was pissed though.

YorkshireRoyal99 To be fair, it could also be EFL approval that's been holding up this process. It would also explain why we signed the likes of Andy Carroll and Brandon Barker outside of the transfer window. I know we are within our rights to do that, but I'm sure these are deals that were in the pipeline a while before they happened.

The EFL approval might involve both the sacking of Pauno as well as his replacement and what that means in terms of cost and wages. I can't see why it wouldn't be approved, but there probably are reasons for it taking time for it to do so.

Pretty sure it's been covered that FL approval only applies to playing staff.

I swear if the team is under caretaker management tonight and the club just decided not to make an official announcement is the only way we could be more of a basket case right now.

We don't need approval from the EFL to sack the manager, nor is there any points deduction for doing so.

I have just read through our agreement in short form and yes, it is just playing staff where wages and fees are applied.

However, it does also state that the reporting period for the 2021/22 season will be capped at Adjusted Earnings Before Tax of a loss of £13m. I don't know how/why any termination of Pauno's contract (as well as a new manager contract) would apply to this, if it even does, but it's really the only other financial explanation I can see. Of course, we don't know everything though.

Zip Replace Pauno with who?
He has had no money to spend. No chance to strengthen in January. He deserves the summer to mould the squad to suit his playing style but will need a good start to next season that’s for sure

Well, we've just made a new signing, so clearly there's no financial impediment to sacking him. Or we wouldn't be blowing our cash on a seventh option for the wing.

Beginning to wonder if it's Dai just being stubborn. Pauno wants payout, we add pressure by protesting, he digs his heels in like a child. Great.

From Pauno’s pov I’m sure he feels he has been given a proper rough hand, and considering the additional work he has taken on in recruitment etc, he is fully deserving of being paid in full to the end of his contract

Some sympathy with that, despite the fact he is a useless manager

It would genuinely be interesting to know if hiring another manager would impact any financial restraints we are in

Agree that considering we have a spare space in the squad, have offloaded Puscas and Rafael and have been able to sign Barker, we should at least be able to find an extra 5-10k pw to pay a new manager

You don't have to look far to find other evidence to support that.

He's directly intervened on transfers, our captain...

It's really not hard to work out where the problem is.

But he' sallowed to do what he likes - he owns the company, lock stock and barrel. He doesn't have to take notice of anyone.

That's the outcome when company law does not recognise that sports clubs are quite different than any other type of company.

Twas ever like this and will continue to be the case until legislation changes things.

Of course he's allowed to.

Just as we're allowed to blame the pcunt and hold him responsible.

Yes at the end of the day it's Dai's club so he's allowed to do whatever Kia wants.

----

Well we have no real evidence this is happening yet really, it's still just speculation.

Chances are there's a hell of a lot we don't know behind the scenes and as we discuss he's probably lining up someone good - or so I like to make myself believe anyway.

If this thread gets to 200 pages do we all have to chip in £10.00 to Brogue’s PayPal account? What do you get on here for reaching 200 pages?

It's not the number of pages that is important but what you write on them that counts, quality over quantity and all that

Please can someone post some sort of update from a tweet or news article or something confirming Pauno is going, FFS.

I come here every 2 seconds looking for news and all I get is random bullshit talk.

Don't make it up though, it has to be real.

Thanks.

(joking obviously - keep up the bullshit, new posts of any sort make me believe it might still happen)
