See, I don't see it as such because I'm starting to believe Pauno is here until the end of the season.

Same here really, in terms of not being that bothered about tonight's result. I don't think Pauno will be here until the end of the season personally, but there are bigger problems that the club needs to address right now rather than this one isolated result tonight, no matter how big it might be in respect to our season.

As far as I can see it, win, lose or draw tonight, I can see us going down, especially if we keep Pauno in charge. The only way we don't is if Derby go bust, that's how I see it right now. We've got a manager change to sort out to affect our results, we've got fan discontent, we've got player contracts etc, we've got some pretty major issues. Tonight's result won't seal our fate because I can see Peterborough going down anyway, even if they do win tonight. If they finish above us because they beat us tonight, then we are finishing 23rd at best anyway.

It may be a bit negative and it may seem like I've lost hope, but at this time I have. I'll regain some hope if we change our manager and hopefully, from the results side, it should change our fortunes on the field. That's when I will genuinely be all that interested in our results.

This season (take out points deductions) its 17, 20 and 28. Rubbish.

wrong thread probably but just how the f**k has Pauno survived - just looking back at this time last season or so - 1 win in 11 at the end of the season (seem to remember we were rubbish in that game as well vs Derby) and then less than a ppg this season. Madness.

Bored at work so thought I would take a bit of a look at this, all points correct after 30 games and difference to 2021/22 in brackets*:

Coventry - 31 (+9)
Sheffield Wednesday - 28 (+8)

2019/20

Stoke - 31 (+9)
Barnsley - 24 (+4)
Luton - 24 (+6)

So yeah, this year looks like a really poor year for the bottom 4 teams, although the team right at the bottom always seems to be about the same, apart from Burton in 17/18 where they were very close.

*this years points are correct as of today, note that Peterborough have only played 29 and Derby have played 31.

I know what you mean mate. I've made similar posts I think on every thread since Fulham but I feel more torn for this game because tonight really is a monumental 6 pointer and I have no confidence a defeat will change anything for Pauno/Dai.

The upshot for me has been I've been a lot more calm watching games lately. Normally on the edge of my seat during the match and a grumpy git when we lose, but now I see a silver lining of a Pauno sacking. Wife likes it.

I just can't see where another win is coming from under Paunovic. Maybe Barnsley away? A proper football manager coming in with the players we have picks up at least 5 wins out of our remaining fixtures imo. Cannot believe the neglect and lack of awareness from those in charge of the club. They are the only people on planet earth who seemingly can't see we are managed by an over qualified P.E teacher.

Its a toughie. Defeat doesn't mean Pauno will be sacked. Win doesn't mean he'll stay on.

I'd say one team having 6 points deducted, and another 21, does skew things a bit.

I don't understand how the argument falls down, Southwood's performances had dropped, they signed Hein to provide competition, Southwood didn't improve so they gave Hein a chance.

What about TDB and Osorio, are they your suggestions to replace Laurent? TDB definitely doesn't fill the same role and I think would leave the defence more exposed, as for Osorio, the kid has made no senior appearances but he's suddenly the answer, that doesn't make a whole lot of sense.

Holmes and Laurent have made more mistakes than Southwood. Yet he gets dropped and they don’t. There are options for them, limited as they may be, and we had to sign someone to drop Southwood. So why didn’t we sign someone to drop Holmes or Laurent instead?

Osorio for Laurent isn’t exactly vastly different to Hein for Southwood. Both are teens. Both had no first team experience (well, not true for Osorio, he's had a fraction).

Didn’t we sign him to replace Rafael?

At full strength (as unlikely as it seems) we have four first team CB’s. We have four first team CM’s. We have one GK so in isolation, the signing of another one made sense, even if he is very inexperienced. Dann, Morrison, Holmes and McIntyre are plenty good enough as four Championship CB’s - hence why we didn’t sign someone else there. Our backup GK was someone who couldn’t get into a struggling L1 side

And someone who many rated higher than Southwood at the start of the season.

Let's be honest here. If Pauno wasn't already thinking of dropping Southwood we wouldn't have signed the guy. And Southwood certainly hasn't had a bad game since he arrived to make the decision since signing him.

Change is and was far more needed in defence and midfield (and particularly in the dugout more than anything) than at GK.

Peterborough have pretty much matched our crap spell, their supporters feel as apathetic as we do and they have significantly lesser players.
