paultheroyal Hein made some key saves last night - some maybe not expected to save which helped contribute to those 3 points. Looks assured to me. Distribution and kicking from hands is poor and needs to improve vastly, but i am comfortable with him in goal, but fully expecting him to be the next "fans target" which has already started.

Once he stops making really bad mistakes like he did with the Birmingham goal last night I'm sure he will stop being a target. You can't just ignore the fact he cocked up massively because we won the game.

He needs to be cut some slack - being pounced on left right and centre - this is after being in the team that has collected 7 points from 9 when the the last time that happened was 25 September 2021!!
He got done when that phase of play was just a mess contributed by that mong of a fan....
He also made saves where no-one would of moaned if they actually had gone in.

All of the above is true but you also have to call what you see. It isn't good enough to throw out phrases such as "Hein is shit" or "not good enough" like some are because we just don't know that yet. It also isn't right that mistakes are ignored because we won a game or are on a good run, it can't be glossed over that he is very flappy on crosses and high balls into the box. I'm sure he is disappointed with the goal he let in so I don't think it is an issue for anyone to point out he should have done better, he will know that more than anyone.
He hasn't cost us a game yet, he has made saves which are both positives. I hope Paul Ince brings in a keeper coach who has experience of working with young keepers and can improve the distribution and crosses.

Why cut him some slack? Earlier this season both Rafael and Southwood have been ‘pounced on’ for similar errors. The fact we’ve picked up 7 points from 9 doesn’t mean we can’t call him out. 1 clean sheet in 5. 8 conceded in 5. If Peterboro could hit a barn door, it’d be fewer points and more let in. At no point has anyone said he is ‘shit’. We’ve all acknowledged his excellent shot stopping. However, his flapping at crossed and terrible distribution remains a concern. It will cost us at some point.

Millsy Yawn.
What's the next useless debate we can have. Um.... actually I can't think of one. Ok carry on. Something vaguely divisive to talk about now that Pauno's gone I guess.

but its not costing us now and you know, in the meantime, with game time, he might even get better, now theres a thought.
But hey, wouldnt be Reading if fan based moved onto another player and its clearly Hein's turn.

Why is it a "useless debate"?

Paul, you're better than that. It isn't Hein's "turn". It is just people with eyes who are pointing out massive errors he is making. It is irrelevant if the misakes are costing us or not, we can still see them and don't have to ignore them.

As you've said and I agree, there's really not much between them and in my opinion success or failure of our relegation campaign certainly doesn't depend on which keeper we use at the moment. I couldn't give a flying flamingo really who's in goal. Seems to be more people with agendas to defend "one of our own" and not happy about the odd (I agree it's a bit odd) signing who are keeping the 'debate' alive. I literally can't think of a more pointless one in recent times. Of course like any player if there is a series of mega-howlers costing points then changes will be made. If not, meh. Take your pick.
We can all agree none of them is up for it and we need a new keeper.
