Robson-Kanu is a shout to be fair, always worked hard but never really produced that much. Similar reasons why I put Simon Cox and Noel Hunt in, always worked hard and such, sometimes produced, other times didn't.

I'd put Mannone and Baldock down as poor rather than average, not sure either of them did much of significance. Did Mannone save a penalty in the last minute against QPR at home on our way to staying up? Baldock scored at Preston when we won 3-2 for our first win of the season, but I don't remember much other than that.

Possibly a bit harsh on Gunter, he was solid for 3/4 years for us really before falling off after Stam. Wouldn't say he was consistently average, more so he went from being good to not so good.

Yeah HRK is a good shout and helps out the LW (IIRC) dilemma for an average team.

I left him out because of his PL level lately made me think he's better than we thought, but yeah he was always just forgettably average for us.

I think you could build such a side starting with, and including all, of Tommy Burn's "Magnificent Seven" but although it never worked out it was a bold move at the time to sign so many players in one go.

These, I feel were average or overrated or made to look good next to other players, plus Lovell for that penalty miss. Shepherd always tried his best, and had a few good games but lacked confidence. He's in goal then, but with regrets, that doesn't apply to the others.

I would have said almost the exact opposite of HRK, he never progressed beyond being an impact sub, partly because he wasn’t that good but also because he did nothing defensively. Remember when McDermott was picking Noel Hunt on the wing ahead of him?
