New GK

Apparently, we will be signing yet another goalkeeper before the weekend with an eye to them even potentially starting at Forest. Clearly does not trust Southwood.

Must be a free agent, so beyond the Pantilimon "rumour" no idea who could that be.

Hopefully Conor Boyce-Clarke gets a look in in pre season. Southwood wont settle for being backup keeper long-term.

Twitter suggestions include:

Örjan Nyland - Joined Bournemouth in the summer, released in January.

Kieran Westwood - Been without a club since leaving Sheffield Wednesday in the summer.

Hendo Keiren Westwood or Ben Alnwick?

Alnwick hasn't played for three years, so hopefully not.

Kieran Westwood for me - quality keeper - been training with Crewe over the winter to keep sharp.

Either Westwood or Nyland would do for me. I'd even take both going into next season as well, no matter what division we play in.

Did not know that, hopefully not indeed. Always rated Westwood when he was at Wednesday.

Me neither until I checked. He's been without a club since leaving Bolton in 2019. I'd be ok with Westwood. Wouldn't mind the guy from Bournemouth either. Hasn't played a huge amount, but good age and decent experience.

Westwood was quality at Wednesday.

Would make perfect sense. I don't think Southwood needs replacing. But Westwood's experience could be invaluable to the team, Southwood could learn a huge amount from him and he'd be a hugely reliable back up next season in either division.

This is the signing we should have made instead of Hein, if he's affordable.

If it is either Westwood or Nyland then yes, I can't understand why it wasn't either of these in the first place rather than Hein. I can only think Nyland wasn't available at the time we signed Hein but Westwood was.

Prefer Westwood but also wonder why no one took him on in the summer.

PATRIQT Prefer Westwood but also wonder why no one took him on in the summer.

Probably due to age, as there is no resell value, But if it was it does have the feeling to me like Al Habsi we signed him at a similar age when no other team had taken a punt on him and he turned out to be a revelation as he had a point to prove.

Westwood’s been one of the best keepers in the league since he was at Coventry. Would be great to get him in even if he isn’t at the level he used to be.

Imo the best goalkeepers right now are Baxter at Hull and Nichols at Huddersfield, they’ve both won lots of points for their clubs this season. Southwood is fine but not exceptional - the comparison I reach for is Daniel Bentley or even Ben Hamer. Our main problem has been the players in front of him. We’re conceding too many shots, particularly from dangerous positions.

Örjan Nyland it is. Good age and good experience, happy with that.

One good save, one goal he could do nothing about.

Thats Southwood done for sure. Not commanding enough which could of led to 2 goals at least close to being preventable and at fault for their 3rd. We wont see him again this season now.

He hasn't got the best of attitudes either, so his nose will have been put completely out this season. He still hasn't grown up, and loves giving it the big one in the bars rather than on the pitch. He and Danny Drinkwater are like two peas in a pod.
