I was also surprised you’d keep Lindelof.

Once in a while he looks class but more often than not to my eyes he looks naive and inept. (Can’t remember but I suspect his good games have been against lesser teams.)

And Pogba? See above. (But he’s going anyway isn’t he?)

And Bruno? Has put in some excellent performances but not for a while and I hate his body language. Keane used to moan at teammates but in a way designed to get them to do their jobs better, as a leader. Bruno comes across as a temperamental prima donna whinger and all-round negative presence to me.

But I suppose they can’t get rid of everyone except De Gea....

At least Sancho seems to be improving a bit.

As a few of us have pointed out, they need to be spending half a billion to be even close to really competitive at the top end

Read somewhere that the reason they do not appoint the best manager and culture has not changed is because of Sir Alex Ferguson. He still has too far a greater say some would say in that regards and the team is not evolving as it should. Not sure how much of that is true but a few fingers are pointing towards Sir Alex.

Someone back in 1971 Read somewhere that the reason they do not appoint the best manager and culture has not changed is because of Sir Matt Busby. He still has too far a greater say some would say in that regards and the team is not evolving as it should. Not sure how much of that is true but a few fingers are pointing towards Sir Matt.

Absolute horseshit...think before you post!

Look at the fooking board. They have been the constant for the last decade

Now a Uni m8 of the previous pcunt is in charge...more of the same

They buy big names because it's good for marketing, fook the actual team

maybe...

LFC bought Suarez and became competitive

Leicester won the league

Even spuROFLs were in with a shout one season

but agree they need to fund a number of replacements

He nearly died and has been out to pasture since then. He doesn't have that much influence

The board/players sling shit at anyone to protect themselves. They maybe have to realize that the problem is them

tbf they have finished 3rd & 2nd in the last two seasons but they are way off the pace

I wouldn’t say you’ve fared too badly since about 2016 really - you won the FA Cup under LVG, won the EL and LC under Mourinho with a 2nd place finish, a couple of decent finishes under OGS. It’s about making constant improvements though and this year has been a massive step back with what should have been a considerably stronger squad

Think it’s just more about how much Liverpool and City are ahead of you, was embarrassing at times on Sunday

Champions League exit will really hurt, especially given how Atletico Madrid have been struggling this season. There are a lot of similarities between the teams when you look at it, both giants in their respective leagues but going through a tough spell. In terms of United's new manager I think the perfect candidate was in the Atletico dugout last night but I don't see Simeone leaving them for United.

It is weird how English football works, all the top teams go through a really bad 5-10 years periodically. Liverpool were dogshite in the late 90's-2005ish, United now, Arsenal from 2010 til this season etc. Pretty sure United will come back again and be the top team, it is just going to take a long while to get there. The next managerial appointment is key, they need to be long term and well funded. If I were in charge at United I would be sending some feelers out to Conte, try and unsettle him a bit. Ultimately I think it will be Poch though.

Just don’t see it with Conte, has the Mourinho vibes about him where he may get success in the short term but he’s unlikely to sustain it, too many dramas/fall outs with Conte in charge

Klopp built over the years and in fairness to him, after a ropey start, Arteta seems to be going the same way to resurrect two clubs on a downward spiral - I just don’t see Conte being that man

What surprised me a bit before the game was not only a number of Man Utd fans suggesting that they would win last night but might well go on to win the whole thing.
Having watched the first leg when Athletico were so much better I couldn't see them losing last night bar a sending off but that risk with them put me off putting on much at the odds of 11/4.

I thought I heard in the car after our game that it was only the 3rd time ever that Ronaldo had gone a whole Champs League game without having a shot.

Their ongoing failure does at least bring joy to so many people, they are now a bit like a charitable institution giving oodles of money to other clubs for over-rated players and giving the rest of us a laugh.

Ooof. Just who you want to play when you're in really shit form, a team with collectively the heart of a pea.

Huge 3 points for Everton.

Most of us would take some pleasure from Everton going down but seeing them beat Man Utd has given me a nice warm glow.
