BROB0T Just seen the replay...

If that was a pen then the other one was defo handball

I suppose running on your hands is a natural position

If Arsenal win then fair enough but not because of the ref

The BT rules expert explained why Cedric's wasn't handball. And it is in the rules as well, if you are falling on the ball and it hits the arm it's deemed accidental and unavoidable.

The big club really did get the decisions today though, and it saw them through. :D :D

Defenders should do it more then

the scoreline doesn't reflect the game but not got any problems with Arsenal winning

TBH none of the three teams should be allowed in the CL. They have all, at times, been abysmal. Spurs dumped out of the Conference by a team I've never heard of.....United can't get past Boro in the FA Cup and Arsenal dumped out by Forest.

There should probably be further criteria for entry such as finishing say no more than 10 points behind the Champions (this season it will probably be more than 20 points) and that might reduce the dumbing down of the competition which has happened since it became a league basis early on.
Unfortunately talk is of it being expanded further.

Impossible to implement of course but these teams really are mediocre when compared to the top two and they are not even challenging in our cup competitions..

The CL is way harder to win than the former European Cup, you faced the Crusaders, Oulun Palloseura, Jeunesse Esch, Knattspyrnufélag Reykjavíkur, FC Petrolul Ploiești for example (was quite interested to see who you'd actually played so wiki'd them)

You were allowed in when you finished 5th. United won it in the initial years of allowing non-champions in, you also weren't anywhere in the league in 2005 & 2007

Or, like eventual winners Nottingham Forest in 1978/79, you could be drawn against the current holders in the first round.

European Cup was way harder to win because you a actually had to win something to qualify.

This. It’s meant to be a Champions League but lots of the teams in it aren’t champions and it’s filled out with these sides at the expense of clubs from lesser leagues who are champions but we all know that you can’t possibly have big sides missing out on a cash cow just because they can’t win a league as that’s not fair on them.

The original European Cup and it’s format was way better and the games nearly always meant there was something riding on them - but as you know throwing ££££££ about and putting in loads of pointless extra games obviously improves everything

Consequently you now have a bloated and tedious European champions competition and a Johnstone’s paint trophy equivalent in the Europa League and just what the hell the Europa Conference League is and why on Earth anyone on earth thinks that is a good idea is quite beyond me.

I suppose the European Cup still tended to be won by clubs from the big leagues, like, err, Steaua Bucharest and Red Star Belgrade.

I think the expression is "you are so last year".
Perhaps Man Utd do best when there is a pandemic and nobody is watching them-hopefully we will never have a season like that again both on and off the pitch.

Celtic, Feyenoord and Hamburg were similar to Nottingham Forest i.e. a very decent club at the time

Coupled with favourable draws and a bit of luck in the way the current England team has benefitted from

I think you will find that they had more or less won it by the time that the pandemic arrived.
They actually did not do very well during the pandemic whereas Man Utd had their best season for a while.

Your big hope is that football is cyclical and that Man Utd will buy their way to another championship one day-they say that money talks but it hasn't been talking too much around the theatre of nightmares of late.

They've already rotted for a few years, they are now officially rotten and need to be rebuilt.

rotting away in 2nd & 3rd

United have been terrible this year but replacing 2 or 3 players could make a massive difference i.e. to being less shit

May take a while to get back to competing though
