Sanguine Where is Brobot and his nonsense about caffeine?
Liverpool's players were like a killer bee swarm last night.

South Coast RoyalFranchise FCSouth Coast Royal Yet another European semi-final for Liverpool tonight.
It will be hard for the game to match the excitement of last night's City v Real Madrid game as I expect the defending to be a bit better.
If they get through, whoever Liverpool play in the final should be a cracker.
I'm not sure the defending was bad at all last night - it was just that both teams had an array of attacking talent capable of breahing almost anything.
Goal 1 - great cross and excellent header - little that Carvahal could have done to prevent it
Goal 2 - Brilliant control, turn and shot - Alaba maybe, just maybe could have cut out the original ball in
Goal 3 - Benzema was exceptional and little that Zinchenko could have done - just possibly Mahrez could've been stronger in the original tackle, but that's not a defensive issue per se
Goal 4 - Brilliant run by Fernandhino and fantastic cross - ok, Foden shouldn't have been left completely alone, but he is only 3 foot 6 so slipped in unnoticed
Goal 5 - What can I say, goal of the night - the dummy, the speed, the run, the finish - doubt anyone could have done anything about it once Fernandhino hadn't stopped the first ball
Goal 6 - A little bit of hesitation but driven by the fact that it looked for all the world as if the referee was going to blow for the most obvious foul of the night and he did exceptionally well to allow a few seconds for the play to develop
Goal 7 - OK, you can have that one
All in all I'd say the scoreline was pretty much nothing to do with poor defending and everything to do with the quality of the forward movement and finishing
Don't want to argue- I respect that your opinion differs however I still feel that defensively neither team was very good which then produces a great watch for the neutral.

Never mind talk of a quadruple.
To make 2 and possibly 3 cup finals and win at least 1 of them and in the same season come 1st or 2nd in the Premier League represents a more than respectable season for a top club.
How clubs like Man Utd, Arsenal or Spurs would love to be in contention for just one of those competitions.
IMHO we are going through a golden period with 2 great sides at the top of English football.

Wouldn’t be surprised to see Arsenal become a lot stronger in the next couple of seasons, couple of positions needed in the summer - but they’re building gradually
Don’t expect to see them having the same transformation as Liverpool under Klopp mind but there’s potential there

I have more of a feeling that Spurs are the ones nearly ready to step up rather than Arsenal.
I look at Arsenal and see Gabriel, Partey, Saka and.........................................................................??
Maybe Smith-Rowe and the 2 strikers but feel that they are still some way short.

Tierney when fit is a decent option, White seems to be improving, Tomiyasu seems to have settled in well, always thought Xhaka is a lot better than what he gets given credit for too
They’ve got a strong ish XI but the lack of alternatives is an issue. Again, not too dissimilar to Klopp when he was relying on backups like Solanke, Ings, Moreno etc etc

The top three clubs in the league all have exceptional attacking full-backs

Sanguine I actually think Klopp (maybe not the players) is at peace with the league. If Liverpool win their remaining six games this season, they'll finish the season with at least three trophies, and a 7th Champions League title. To have another league season like this and not win it, again, would be ridiculous, but I think both Liverpool and City have reached 'acceptance' of the brilliance of the other.
I do think not winning either PL or CL from here would be disappointing for the club.

I think we could see Man City take their eye off the ball in terms of the league should they make it through to the Champions League final, pretty sure Pep wants the CL more than anything. That would be the only reason I can see them dropping any points. Don't think Liverpool will drop any regardless.
