Side note, but mentioned before managers’ strange obsessions with shoehorning players in certain positions with a ready made replacement on the bench. Sure, Tavares isn’t particularly great at this moment in time (still young) but is it worth shifting a RB to LB (especially considering it was to accommodate Cedric)? Absolutely not IMO

One of those trivial things but I don’t see the logic. Same thing with Klopp and using Fabinho and Henderson CB last season, nearly cost them a CL place (ironically in the final now) until he learnt the error of his ways

URZZZZ Perhaps a vote for the most brain dead red card of the last week?

Cresswell
Ayling
James
Holding

These players are paid thousands and thousands a week and yet come out with decisions like that?

Arteta should have hooked Holding the second he got booked, occasion was clearly too raw for him and there’s not many better at the dark arts than Son

I keep changing my mind on this one.
I’m inclined to go with Holding as he seemed intent on getting to red right from the start
The others could argue were a split second (wrong) decision

p.s. Where’s the Ian Royal option ?

Thought that was a given

Surprised Arsenal fans are complaining about the red card being given, can’t get too much more of a stick on yellow card, especially with the two previous incidents where he avoided caution. Not so sure about the penalty though, especially as previously mentioned, Son’s cheating antics

If there were any viable options he wouldn't have been starting in the first place. Arsenal just haven't got any strength in depth in that defence. Tierney being out for so long is what's going to cost them a top 4 finish and White being injured has just been the nail in the coffin. That said Arsenal properly Leedsed up last night, just didn't look in the game at all. They could do worse than trying to tempt Phillips away from Leeds if they go down to given them a bit more midfield solidity.

Arsenal seemed like their old selves last night, just a soft under belly. Injuries haven't helped them though.

I'd prefer to see Arsenal back in the top 4 than Spurs personally, just because they've been away for a while and I think they are building quite a solid side now. Wouldn't be massively surprised if both Arsenal and Spurs were to finish in the top 4 next season.

Spurs fans were insanely good last night, arguably a big factor in them winning the match as Arsenal looked overawed

I feel like they are underrated when it comes to the whole best fans argument

In a shocking turn of events, Arteta blames the entire performance on the decisions of the referee, convieniently forgetting that Paul Tierney was extremely lenient on Holding even before he was booked and VAR were reviewing the second booking to determine whether it should have been a straight red

Sometimes I wish that managers would have at least a modicum of realism about their moans

They have a good following that's for sure.

I love their new ground, I think it looks great. Definitely one I plan on going to, hopefully we draw them in the cup next season. FA Cup that is.

The penalty was soft but to argue against the red card is ridiculous

Hypocritical is a very apt word to describe most of the antics around football

Just saw they managed 24 shots in the game. Just 2 on target. That is epic scale wastefulness.

It was a terrible, terrible game to watch. Arbroath were up agaisnt 9 men for much of the second half and the final 7 minutes, but didn't seem to go for it. Weird that ICT had a player sent off in the second half, and had used their 3 subs when a player went off injured so were down to 9 men, but then got an extra sub in extra-time so were able to replace the player who'd been injured 10 minutes earlier!

How the oxf*rd are so many fans getting flares in?

Liverpool should have the trophy rescinge and points deducted from the Premier League for this. It is dangerous behaviour and a complete disgrace. Thugs.

Tuchel had a go at this today. Brought on Ruben Loftus-Cheek to play up front for 15 minutes, then subbed him off near the end so that Ross Barkley could take a penalty. All while Timo Werner, a forward (who fwiw has scored 16 out of 20 penalties in his career), sat on the bench.
