windermereROYAL Well the Derby takeover is now dead in the water but the EFL are giving them the 328th chance of getting a deal over the line.
Bury would like a word.
Too big to go bust. Bury weren't.
Harsh on the shakers but there it is.

From Despair To Where? But then factor in the due diligence done on Steve Dale by the EFL. IIRC, he was allowed to proceed with the take over without proof of funding.
The EFL seriously dropped the ball.

PATRIQT Bury was different in that they ran out of money, whereas someone is still keeping Derby afloat for now.
The big deadline is pay day this month. Then we should see points deductions if that money dries up.

It is all rather ridiculous, there should be a set timeline which cannot be changed no matter who you are. Quite simply Derby (or any club) should be out of administration and/or under acceptable new ownership by the start of a new season (30th July in this case). If they are not then that club should be immediately expelled from the league and have to apply for election to whichever appropriate lower (non) league has a vacancy for the start of the season after the next.
If this was one of the various non leagues rather than the FL no doubt the matter would have been sorted one way or another already.

Agreed except that I’d use the release date of fixtures as the cut-off, simply because of the chaos related to a club being removed after the fixtures are announced

Agreed. Needs to be in good time to avoid a division being a team short if at all possible.

Doesn't that process take quite a bit of time? After the initial computer-generated list is done, there's a stack of meetings with interested parties to tweak it? I'd say at least 10 days before the fixture list is agreed as a cut off.

Whatever the process, leaving the deadline until the week before the season is definitely not the answer

Oh absolutely, I was more thinking that they are quite possibly already working on the fixture list, so it would already cause chaos. You couldn't just slap in "replacement for Derby" in L1 and "replacement for replacement for Derby" in the league below, etc, all the way down, and hope it all worked out.

Would be easier to just expunge them from rhe fuxtures and have a 23 team division for 1 year.
