Snowflake Royal Absolute min we should consider is £4m

In an ideal world, yes. Taking £2.5m, or even £3m, may be enough to help us comply with P&S regulations for the coming period however which would be pretty telling.

If we lose Joao though, I'm starting to lean more towards "miracle" territory in terms of survival this season.

Think we already need a miracle - perhaps three other teams get massive points deductions, or there is an asteroid strike voiding the season. Other than that I would say we are pretty much screwed.

And I fully expect Yiadom, Joao, Meite and perhaps a few others to get crocked in pre season games and then it is game over before we even kick off the new season.

I don't think it's quite that bad yet, I do think if the majority of our signings are at the level of Ince and Lumley in their respective positions, then we should have a decent enough squad to be competitive this season and probably have enough to survive. Let's not forget, there is some dross in this league, ourselves included.

Points deductions for teams may be a deciding factor as well. Hopefully Bristol City are one of them as that might be enough to send them down potentially. Hull, Wigan, Rotherham, Birmingham, Blackpool etc are poor sides as well. Still a lot of time to go though yet.

I used to be called a RTG on here. But I am struggling to see anything positive about our current situation. I just don’t see how we can get away without a trip to League 1 now.

We really need a bit of luck with injuries in the pre season games.

Told George Puscas was back at Bearwood today. Was not involved in the game and understand he's not set to be part of the plan moving forward.

Puski wants to leave #readingfc this summer - and Royals are happy for him to find a move.

Assuming the inevitable happens and he goes, probably the most disappointing signing we’ve made, when you take the transfer fee into account

So much initial promise and hype which amounted to very little. Whilst he has been thrown up top by himself too often which clearly isn’t his game, it is hard to gauge what his game actually is. He isn’t quick, isn’t strong, isn’t a link up player and just isn’t much of a presence all round. Was perhaps harshly scapegoated at times but think he’s just a distinctly average player with no real stand out qualities. Whilst I appreciate being a good penalty taker is a good thing, it did inflate his overall record in his first season

Although he did outperform Aluko in a Reading shirt, would label him as a greater disappointment. Was hard to be excited about Aluko given we didn’t have his position in the team - doomed to fail from the start. Whereas Puscas, especially after that Cardiff game, had so much potential. Common theme mind in that they were a monumental waste of money. But hopefully a reminder to be more productive in the market in future

Just not a good enough all round game. When not scoring, doesn’t offer enough in this league

There’s a player in there, but looks like one better suited to the Italian game

IIRC he had a spell where he just keep missing easy chances and you could see the confidence train to the point where he was no longer getting the chances in the first place

I liked his attitude generally though and don’t really begrudge the transfer - sometimes these come off and sometimes not. Whereas always felt Aluko came for one last pay day and not contract - maybe a little unfair but that one always seemed destined to be a disaster

Good luck to him anyway

I think I could list 10 more disappointing signings off the top of my head.

I always thought Puscas was technically a decent player, but he's more suited to the Italian league. As mentioned above, he never really specialised in anything but was more a jack of all trades, master of none. Wasn't quick enough to run in behind, but wasn't a slow coach either, he wasn't strong enough to be a target man, but could use his body well, didn't really link the play, but could play off somebody quite well. His movement was there, but as mentioned he lost a hell of a lot of confidence, especially under Pauno.

He could have been a really good player and showed glimpses of his potential and his quality, but for the price we needed someone who could do it consistently. Unfortunately, that never materialised but that was not all fault of his own either.

Best for all parties, he will be glad to be gone from here.
I think i am more disappointed with how he was managed than his actual performances. He has the ability to be a very good striker but we had a manager who wanted to play him in a way that made his attributes worthless.
Aluko, Baldock Mcnulty all much much worse signing albeit cheaper - at least we might get a return from Puscas, plus he has given us at least one half decent season and that goal against Cardiff.

Obviously it’s all subjective, but taking into account future potential, transfer fee, and actual output, struggling to think of many more that were disappointing. Possibly Vydra who came with so much promise but really struggled here

Plenty worse signings obviously

Think your comment about being mismanaged and playing players making their attributes “worthless” applies to all four of the names you’ve mentioned though. Given that three of the four are probably our highest record transfers, indicative of how bad this club has been run from top to bottom recently

Genuinely think Baldock was a good player who had a lot to offer, clowns at the club just couldn’t see what that was though

Tbf, I left out Aluko because it's specifically signings with promise and expectation who disappointed. Rather than shit players.

I'm genuinely surprised Greg Halford hasn't got a mention.....has he been erased from people's memories?

Think Halford gets a pass because we somehow made a profit on selling him.

He was basically back up to Murty and I don't think came with huge expectations.
