Jamie Shackleton loan

by Stranded » 30 Jun 2022 12:51

The Football Insider Twitter account is saying we are very interested in signing the Leeds midfielder on loan and they are open to him going out on loan this season.

22 years old and 27 PL apperances over the last 2 seasons - starting 7 last season but only played 70 odd mins in 2022. Made 22 apperances when Leeds won promotion in 2019/20 as well.

Probably just the kind of loan signing we need. Mainly plays on the right of midfield.

This would be much more like it. Hope we can get him in.

He’s an option worth exploring.

Pete O'Rourke reporting this as well now - so bound not to happen.

Would imagine that as he'll pretty much be first name on the teamsheet here we must have a decent level of appeal.

Good player, would do well for us at this level, can cover at RB as well so a bit of versatility that we have lost with Araruna (to a lesser extent Rino as well) but with more quality.

Would be a good deal for us if we can get that one over the line for the season.

This would be a great signing for us tbh. Hopefully, we can keep it quiet from Cardiff and Stoke. Other than Ian Harte have we ever signed any other players who have played for Leeds? Not usually a side we do business with.

He should do well in the winter months when it's freezing cold!

Think the following have turned out for both Reading and Leeds and various points in their careers:

Michael Duberry
Alan Maybury
Andy Wright
Dan Harding
Darren O’Dea
Mo Barrow
Jimmy Kebe
Noel Hunt
Lewis Baker
Andy Hughes
Billy Sharp

If he's good hopefully we can tie him to a longer contract.

If he's rubbish though we'll be the laughing stock of the division.

That’s a fair few, I had completely forgot about all of these or wasn’t even aware of the connection. Cheers for the list.

They rate him, so he must be worth a look; and again we can't afford to be fussy. And we get to chant "Shaka, Shaka" again...

Sounds good.

We're pretty well stocked on the right though. It's the left and centre that is the glaringly obvious problem.

Increasingly disillusioned that the club don't seem to recognise the actual difficiencies in the squad still.

EDIT: Whoscored has him as a central midfielder, not rightsided. If we're bringing him in to play central midfield sounds perfect.

Can I add the unforgettable Ian Harte to that list?

He’s a central midfielder. But just one who can cover RB
