Why didn't the club follow Brentford in announcing a two year span on kits? Appreciate they have Premier League money and merchandise sums are peanuts compared to TV revenues but would have been a good initiative.

So 3 Reading shirts this season is gonna be 156 quid unbadged with 90 quid for shorts and 45 for socks. Some parents bank balances are gonna be tested a bit for their teenage kids.

Guess they wanted to distinguish the 150th kit for that season only, which I think is fair enough - will be interesting to see if they use this for next season as well.

I have no issue with the club be aware of, and trying to do something about, climate change and sustainability.

Yes to re-using rain water (to be fair, a lot of clubs do that already) and solar panelling on club premises (including the stadium roof).

I wonder if they have reached out to Forest Green Rovers - the leading "green" football club - to ask for advice on this?

I applaud the sentiment but dear god that looks terrible. I will be doing my bit for the environment by not purchasing this monstrosity and reusing last year's stone cold classic away shirt.

It's astounding that they can go from so right to so wrong in one season.

Very proud of the club on this initiative - and for having the balls to do it knowing it would get a lot of stick. But you can’t make progress on fighting climate change without upsetting people.

Key will be whether tangible action will be seen throughout the stadium / match day experience. Good to see a start with the list of initiatives.

But to go with it knowing it would be ‘divisive’ at best is pretty gutsy. And of course raising climate change awareness is far more impt than having a dodgy kit for a year

Indeed, I they're quite happy to admit they're not perfect, but at least they're taking the first steps to making change. Would imagine this list grows as the years go by

Yeah a lot of environmental changes are incremental, there isn't usually a case of one particular activity that reduces an organisation's carbon footprint by a majority, but of course that's all subjective to the organisation.

The biggest change I'd imagine would be the use of technology for generating renewable electricity and heat at the stadium and training ground, possibly through the use of green tariffs, voltage optimisation etc.

Isn't there a giant fcuking windmill about 100 yards from the stadium?? why on earth haven't we hooked up to that to power the stadium?
