NathStPaul
Royal_jimmy 100% this is a must win game

It isn't though, is it?

Of course it is. If we lose we might as well just not turn up for the rest of the season.

RG30 We are in for a long tough season. Anyone that thinks differently is delusional. Huge question marks over the full time appointment of Ince. The squad is worse and weaker than last season. We’ve lost Swift who was always good for 8-10 goals when fit. We can’t just buy our way out of it like previous years.

Why do you think the squad is weaker?
People seem to think we have lost some really good players but have you forgotten that collectively they where bloody terrible and nearly got the club relegated. Perhaps they weren’t so good after all.

I hope we go down this year and then my prediction 5 years ago is correct

Good effort. I was more pessimistic; I thought 20/21 would be the season it came home to roost, but it turned out to be pretty good.

At least if it happens this year it will be the other side of points deduction, embargoes and Moore's contract. I think we'd have seriously struggled if we went down earlier

Blackpool have won 4 and drawn 3 of their last 10 opening league fixtures while Reading have managed 3 wins and 2 draws in 10. Best in the division is Watford with 6 wins and 3 draws from 10 games. Worst in the division is Stoke with 1 solitary win and 3 draws (no prizes for guessing who the win was against).

Since 2000 Blackpool have only been given 6 opening day league fixtures at home and they’ve won 3 and lost 3 but have won both of the last 2 home games they’ve played over the opening weekend.

In the same period Reading have won 2 and drawn 4 of 11 away league fixtures played over the opening weekend.

I've predicted 1-1 as well. Could be any score though (obviously).

Inclined to agree, but then again our most recent defensive record would have you believe we may concede 9...

Paul Ince today "Lucas got a knock on his knee and he’s still with the physios at the moment. So we'll have to wait and see on him."

Massive loss if he is missing or if he ends up playing but is only at 80%. Would rather we went with Meite/Long* as our striker(s), I'd probably say Meite/Puscas if we are playing with a 2 personally speaking.

* Might be way behind the times but is Long fit for Saturday?

Unusually optimistic prognosis there….

No offence, but that's one of the most meaningless statistics I've ever heard. Is the outcome of this match really likely to be affected in any way by what either of the teams did in their opening match 10 years ago - with different players, different coaches and managers etc?

According to Dellor Joao will have a fitness test before the Blackpool game. Long not yet fit. Sarr has signed. Loum is done and just awaiting his visa.
We are also signing Guinness-Walker. Drinkwater not signing which makes sense as we will have more than enough cdm options.
