paultheroyal Whist we are at it - wouldn't mind Nathan Redmond - he has fallen off the radar at Southampton. Quality player. One of the few players i have on my list who single handily destroyed us in a match - only 28.

Who else is on the list?

Striker Florin Andone has left Brighton after his contract was terminated by mutual consent.

Probably not him but he is now a striker available for free (and he is a Romanian international)

Could it have been Theo Walcott on loan?

Adel Taarabt has left Benfica by mutual consent. He is now a free agent.

Not sure a portion of the Reading fanbase would be able to handle both him and Joao in the same team.

Silver Fox Loving the Vydra suggestion, if only because Tim Dellor might actually explode

I reckon it’s Andy Carroll. He is without a club and still a decent enough player at championship level if used correctly. His club Brugge chance fell through.

Other option my be Theo Walcott, he can’t get in the Southampton team, still a decent player at championship level

Walcott isn`t a free agent that I am aware.

Even if he is now (having left Southampton since 1st) if he was contracted at the close of the window he won’t be able to sign for anyone until January, as I understand the rules

Looks like it was Walcott then but Soton wouldn't release him rather sanction a loan, which seems a bit strange if he's not going to play and will be out of contract in the summer.

I’d sooner see us wait until January now tbh. I’d sign one of the trialists and then see how we’re looking after the World Cup. Ehib looks a decent backup and we also have Clarke. That may leave us with 2 spaces to fill in January and at that time we’ll have a better idea about how the season is likely to pan out.

Also seems he was ready to come, so I wonder why Saints said no ? Presumably he was wanting a payment from them ?

Wonder if the club might try again in January, particularly if some agreement or loan deal has been worked out for Liam.

If we haven't signed another striker in the meantime, then we may well look to see if we can help persuade Soton to cancel his deal. 18 month contract to end his career at the club closest to where he grew up could be a nice fit for both.

I'd be very happy with Walcott to be honest. Sure he still has the legs to compete and always had a decent finish in him. Would work very well as an impact man. Hopefully something can still be sorted.
