He's waiting for the sack, wants the payout. They are doomed unless they get a manager in who knows how to grind out results.

I bet they have been tapping up Potter already.
The owners will be sh*ting themselves. They have looked miles off the top 4 at the minute. 4.2 billion for a branded club name is looking a terrible buy at the minute.

Dear me. 60% win record, Champions League, Super Cup, World Club Cup, two domestic cup finals, a 4th and a 3rd place in the PL, the former having come in with the club 9th and plummeting.

On Potter, depends who is advising the owners, I'd be surprised if Boehly has heard of him. Pochettino, for my money.

It'll be a "big name" rather than someone who might actually be good. I would be a little nervous if I were a Brighton fan today though.

Return of the special one?

I reckon Rodgers would have had a good shot at this but he’s had a poor 12 months

Agreed that it’s rather harsh but it appears the relationship between a fair few of the players and management were fractious and once you hit that road, it’s hard to get out of again

Chelsea do seem to have a history of short term manager bounces, when was the last time a manager started and ended three successive seasons there?

Mourinho's first spell, I'd guess, 2004?

Just. He managed a month into his 4th season. Ranieri lasted 6 months longer. Before that it was Glenn Hoddle, who resigned at the end of his 3rd full season.

Potter in talks.

Shades of Coppell in a Brighton manager moving to a much bigger club

Sorry, I wasn't suggesting anything about your spelling at all. More that the current Southampton manager has overseen two 9-0 defeats and hasn't really moved them on, could be considered AT ALL for the Chelsea job

I find the constant talking up of Hassenhutl by pundits quite baffling

Potter apparently has a release clause in his deal if a club are willing to pay it, he gets permission to talk. Seen 20m quoted.

No guarantee he'll take it. Excellent manager who deserves a top job but not sure it is the right one given Chelsea's history of changing manager quickly. At the same time, if you don't take a top job when offered, you may never get one and naturally if he stays and Brighton fall away in a season or two, then his stock will be lower and he could be out on his ear from there.

Luton fans getting nervous as they belive if Potter does go, then Brighton will be after Jones.

Release clause is 17 mill apparently. He had a 6 year deal at Brighton. So they buy that out as well.
God, fancy being Brighton's owner. Get up this morning, world's great, then it's turned on its head completely, you've lost your biggest asset and now your gonna scratch around for a replacement. It's all wrong really.
They shouldn't allow managers to be replaced during the season. If you sack your manager that should be it. Caretaker only.
