Jinx But he probably has the wrong body language, so no matter how many he scores Rother will hate him

I’m just letting Joao’s performances speak for themselves for a while. :D

Royal Rother I know it’s early days for him but I reckon Nunez is a bit shit.

I think Liverpool see him as more of a ”work in progress” than the finished article that Haaland seems to be. I think there’s something about him but it needs work to get the consistency required of a club at Liverpool’s level. He is also only starting to pick up the language and has said he’s struggling to understand the manager and has to get much of what is said through other players like Thiago etc.

Personally he seems terrifyingly quick and seems to have an instinctive reaction and good technique but the understanding with the rest of the team isn’t quite there and that is probably affecting his confidence which affects his game and so it goes round and round.

At the moment I’m not convinced it was the smartest move by Liverpool but then Liverpool do seem to marshall their finances very carefully and while that is to be applauded it does hold them back when competing with the continual “money no object” approach of some other clubs at their level.

I think that's about right. He's about as quick as Haaland and it's clear in his four goals so far that he is an instinctive finisher, and a bit of a goal poacher and position player like Michael Owen, or indeed Haaland. He's coming off two seasons in Portugal, so this is a step up, whereas Haaland has come out of Bundesliga (and is obviously a better player!).

Salah looked on it last night - Liverpool will need him to return to top form not least given Diaz's injury. And Salah doesn't have the World Cup to worry about.

Separately the Jordan Henderson-Gabriel stuff is an odd one. No real reports about what it is that Henderson is supposed to have said, and the FA investigating. You never know I guess, but nothing about Henderson has ever suggested to me he has something troubling like racism in him. Other rumours that he might have made an off the mark comment about Partey.

Against Rangers though, that's championship level, you'd be surprised if he wasn't able to rip them apart even if he's not on top form.

Agree with all you say, and also the Partey thing is what went through my mind having thought "if it wasn't racism what the heck can it be?".

Wasn't paying a huge amount of attention at the time, but when the ref went over to the managers and had a word, both looked somewhat surprised (almost confused IIRC) but largely untroubled.

True but for a player like Salah, coming off the bench and you've not been at your best, to get 3 goals in 6 minutes is the sort of kick that is likely to get you firing. Doesn't matter who it was against it was also still in the Champions League.

Anfield is always special on a big conference league night.

Hope they get Jeunesse D’Esch in their Group next season.

I reckon we could nick something at Anfield, and they’d definitely wilt at the away game in our cauldron on a sultry Thursday in August.

Not as special as Old Trafford as Liverpool have never been in it so wouldn't know.

Unless of course you think that this season is all over already and that, for example, Newcastle will be in the Champs League and Man Utd will subsequently be playing at a higher level than this season by climbing from the Conference to the actual Europe League.

Loliveroflplollollol won’t even finish top 4 this season now, it’ll take some turn around even with their resource - of course if they signed Mbappe in January

Man City will comfortably win the PL yet again  yaaaawwwwnnn!

It doesn't take a genius to predict the winner.
As for all the other 3 of 4 finishes they are very much up for grabs and I expect Liverpool to be in the mix.

Out of interest, why do you think the title is so obviously one sided?

We’re one third of the way through the season and Arsenal are very much still in the race, with no signs of relenting. As mentioned in another thread, their squad depth is poor but their first XI is strong. Don’t actually think City have been that impressive these last few weeks either

Every time I watch Arsenal I think they are vulnerable at the back and physically weak up front (judged on the highest level).
So far so good for them but they lost at Man Utd and have to still play City twice.

A great start to the season but they rarely last the pace whereas with City they have such good back-up players that Pep can rotate far more than most sides and this season they have added a top grade striker.
Bookies make them 1/6 whereas Arsenal are 7/1 shots-I don't buy into the "bookies are always right" but in this case I do think they are.
