Hendo Is it me or is the the score banner on ITV, slightly too big - throwing me off a little bit.

Just you or you have the wrong screen definition. Maybe it’s the colours bringing it out for you.

I am watching through ITV Player, so that might be it. Possibly also the time in the black box, bit of a clash with the score in the more lighter colours.

It isn't abnormally big, just seems very, very slightly, when compared with BBC.

South Coast Royal
Sutekh Loum watch next.

Have had a bet on the bookings in that game.

In our game did you notice that whenever Shaw, Maguire or Trippier gave the ball away there was no mention?

Whether by accident or design we won because our attacking players are our strength so hopefully Southgate won't play 2 defensive midfielders even when we get to play the better sides.

With a defence including Maguire or Dier we are always going to be vulnerable. But at least with this formation we're creating loads more. We'll need to!

I too am watching on ITV Player, hence my agreement.

Good game though so far

There's always a weakness with every side and when your CB's include Maguire, Dier, Stones, Coady and White, you're going to be vulnerable in that area as they are all fairly average defenders really with a mistake in them. It's obvious going forward is our strength, that's what we should be playing to, doing so we should go far in the tournament.

I think most sides have some sort of weakness, there doesn't appear to be any stand-out sides. Even the favourites like Brazil and Argentina aren't great defensively and are pretty ordinary in that area. France are quite well rounded, but probably look weakest in midfield out of anywhere.

I definitely think it will be quite open, maybe half a dozen sides believing they have more than a decent chance of winning it this time.

I think that’s a bit harsh on White this season

Second half has gone downhill pretty drastically.

Well England should be playing one of these two in the last 16. Really can’t decide who is preferable. Perhaps I’ll support Ecuador for the rest of this group and hope they get to be runners up.

Worst game so far though. Can’t figure out if they’re both bad or just cancelling each other out.

Dixie Norm The jury is still out but playing the WC in the middle of the domestic season actually seems to be helping us. We looked a lot more lively in that game than we have done at any tournament I can remember.

Totally agree; for once no-one looks totally shattered after an exhaustung domestic and European season, and - with the exception of Maddison (who was only ever going to be a fringe player anyway and is unlikely to even get on the pitch during the tournament) no-one has turned up 70% fit (like Beckham in 2002 and Rooney in 2010).

As for the performance, yes it is "just" Iran..........the Iran that is ranked 20th in the World, the Iran that finished ahead of South Korea and the Iran that only conceded 4 goals in qualifying.....they played poorly because England made them look poor.

England on the other hand looked balanced, quick, passed slickly and were inventive in breaking down a team set up to park the bus and who began time-wasting with the clock reading less than 4 minutes. During commentary, someone (Jermaine Jenas?) said that England looked like a club side and he was 100% right.

That was an excellent performance and one that sets the standard for the Group games.

The games are being played at a temperature that suits our game. Usually, in summer tournaments, we're done by the heat but I can see some of the crowd are wearing jumpers
