The magic of the FA Cup

by Sutekh » 25 Nov 2022 09:55

So after last season’s unacceptable performance hope may be brewing amongst some of the support for a little bit of a cup run - or will that detract too much from the possible annual survival battle?

Personally I’d like Reading to get another non league side in the hope that a Paul Ince team will be able to show how it is actually done, though of course we all know the 3rd round draw is most likely to give Reading a cr@p tie like a visit to Luton or Sheffield United etc.

Anyway, the draw for the 3rd round will be live on BBC 2 on Monday (program starts at 7pm) with ties to be played over weekend of 6/7/8/9 January 2023.

Reading should be ball number 32.

Speculate your wishes and predictions hereunder.

Preferred options:-
Bournemouth, Southampton or Portsmouth away.
Likely outcome:-
Barnsley, Blackburn or Preston away

Ince will do the same as the league cup put reserves out. So bearing that in mind I would rather lose to a prem or a championship team than suffer last year’s embarrassment,.

The Ronalds, Northampton or Luton (assuming they’re all still in ‘cos I haven’t checked  )
All away, obviously

We'll put out a terrible side to try to get immediately knocked out so... shrug.

Oh, how I’d love to argue with that … but can’t

Wrexham, at home. Probably be the only time Parkie will manage at the SCL!

Train strikes that weekend ruin any decent away day.

Can’t blame Ince one iota for not prioritising (or caring about) the Cup this year. So whoever it is, is immaterial.

Don't worry Captain Chaos Liam Moore is fit again nearly I heard. Give him a runout and at least we have the perfect scapegoat.

A lacklustre defeat to lower league opposition will certainly put him in the shop window.

Don't really care, I know my Dad would love us to get Spurs away as an excuse to go to their new stadium.

Given the way the Championship is this season I can see a lot of U23 sides like in the league cup and a lot of exits in round 3 & 4, including us.
